Anyone heard the Audioromy M828A amp? It uses a pair of FU29/GU29 dual tetrode power valves in a push/pull configuration for 30wpc. I've never heard such grip from a budget valve amp before. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180925/9cbe5fdd42b93dd0922d47acfe1a1da4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180925/23eb7377f10ffb361f874607bf2c0a8c.jpg

It’s been around quite a few years. I believe there are some mods documented for it somewhere.

I suspect it could benefit from a better pot, can't imagine there's a decent one at the price it sells for. My main concern though is how to bias it I have to investigate further but it involves going from underneath, rather tricky considering you have to keep the speakers attached...

I’ve never heard one of these, but it certainly looks the part. Some of the Chinese gear that flooded the market is/was surprisingly good and reliable!
TBF some wasn’t, but some was.

Used to have the 813 version, was a decent amp.
one thing is it may be a 220v tranny so make the valves glow a bit.

Yes that’s an issue with these unless it’s been changed in the newer ones.
Looking again at the pic i looks like the valves are being overdriven.. a variac or a bucking tx will sort it. The latter probably the cheapest option

Did you find this regarding bias setting? http://195.84.101.101/~goranl/projects/nad_stereo/audioromy_fu29/Adjusting_BIAS_on_AUDIOROMY_FU29.pdf
+1 to use a bucking transformer.

Good little amp that, I had one for about 18 months, at the time I found it far more enjoyable than the roksan amp I also owned.

If that's Nick's old one, it will have been sorted (I think he replaced the volume pot) and be safe, too.
