A pair of Sansui SP-1500 3-way vintage speakers. These speakers are quite large, heavy, and are build like the proverbial brick outhouse. They are real wood veneered and contain five drive units in each. They are damped internally with wadding - see photos - and they have controls to adjust the high and mid range levels on the back panel. Impedance is 8 ohms and power handling is 60W. I've read that they have a high 98dB sensitivity and also that JBL had a hand in the design of the 12" bass driver. Indeed the bass driver has a 'U' section, doped material surround like JBL drivers use(d). Driver specs can be seen on the back panel controls photo. They work 'perfectly' apart from the tweeters in both speakers that are not working. There are many 1" dome tweeters available on the open market, it shouldn't be too difficult to find suitable replacements that will do the job admirably and justifiably bring these back to 100%. They also have custom made black metal stands that are square section and very professionally made and finished. I want just £75 for the speakers and their stands.

No shipping, packing or delivering, collection only from Rugeley, Staffs.

I've never seen midrange units described as "squawkers" before... I shall definitely be adopting that - good luck with the sale - interesting speakers

Yep, in the 70s it was common to refer to a mid range driver as a 'squawker'. It's not used so much now as the tendency is for a bass/mid range driver plus a tweeter in some form or other.
