My wife and daughters have put the TV log fire on over Christmas. I like it because of the soft gentle glow and the storyline is much better than anything you’ll find on Eastenders.

Replacement grate and a few other bits on their way. Would have been ideal for last Saturday, but it's got warmer again!

Lol - yes I quite look forward to lighting the log fire, even though it's a hour's extra work for me everyday, cleaning it out (thoroughly as I like it) and setting it, bringing (smokeless) coal and logs in from the store, etc.

But once it's lit, it's cosy and comforting on cold, dark winter nights!:cool:

We haven't used ours yet since the beginning of May, or put our central heating on, as it's still been around or above 15 degrees here, so plenty warm enough. Once the temp falls below 12 deg, or so, the burner will be lit.

Once apon a time people would have sex on a rug in front of a fire. Later on when coal fires were replaced with central heating systems, they might have had sex in front of the TV instead. Now with Garry's set-up you can do both! :lol:

I won't elaborate on where I may or may not have done it (and got caught). But I did have a van with notches filed into the door handle. Funny thing is, my mate had a van too and he called his 'the fuck truck'! :lol:

As a boy back yonder we used to toast our bread in front of a coal fire and it was LUBBLY. Pretty basic mind just a fork shoved through the bread
but tasted so much better than using a toaster. Don't start me on the bread and dripping sandwiches me dad used to eat though, it might give the food fascists

My gran had a big brass toasting fork. Think my mum had one too

Used to roll spuds in mud and cook them in a campfire when young. They tasted great but that's probably coz we were kids

Perhaps more foolhardy on these "outdoor activities" was seeing how many of us could hang off the rope swing before it broke. Usually about six.

My mate then had a farm; well his dad did lol so we got to play there and they had a big wood so that was the playground and where we cooked etc.was out in country so great fun.

We can count ourselves lucky Grant - living in the country or having it close by made for some great memories, and we learned practical skills without realising it. I know plenty of folk who grew up in towns and didn't have this, and I think they missed out on a lot.
