View Full Version : john wood valve phono stage
anyone heard or owned one,if my amps anything to go by i should think it would be very good.
they get a good name, both build wise and sonically.
yep without doubt,i just wondered if anyone has any experienc with them.
it would seem a logical step to use one with my amp,the price seems reasonable too.
perhaps another leap of faith is called for
worth a go if you see one
he'd be making it for me grant.

How much is it Jamie?
I have heard Al's John Wood amp at a bake off, albeit briefly, & it sounded very good & was built like a tank, so if his phono stage is anything like it I would love to hear one.

When I went up to Johns place with my KT88 amp he advised a non valve preamp that he could build to go with it .
I am using a Croft 25R with built in phono stage
That’s the complete opposite to what he told me

I spoke to him about six months back about building one for me. I am going to go for it when I have the money. It's a gamble as I've never heard one but it's a risk worth taking because he has such a good reputation for quality.
