I've been on here for a little while now so thought I'd best say hello.

I have a Marantz 7001KI CD player, Ali Tait's old Mr Liang amp and some nice new Leema Xeros plus matching sub. HEAVY Target 4 leg speaker stands.

Cables are Hitachi interconnect, twisted twins, Krystal Kables power lead.

Mainly into Rock and Pop I'm afraid! Brandi Carlile, Lisa Loeb, AC/DC, Buck Cherry, etc.

Very informative site with lots of good links!:)

Welcome to AoS Kev.

Is that short for Kevin? Don't be afraid of liking Rock and Pop, I'm sure you're not alone here - we're a broad church.

Enjoy the forum.

Regards

I thought you'd typed Belinda Carlisle, I was well impressed!

Awesome CD player you've got there! (I know HiFi World raved about how analogue sounding it is, and that is very true.)

Anyway, welcome, continue to enjoy AoS.

Yip, name is Kevin.

I'm sure we have met Ali!

I did actually like Belinda Carlisle back in the day.:stalks:

I wasn't really a Marantz fan until I heard this player - just shows you should always keep an open mind.

Although I did once own a Marantz PM94 amp that was rather wonderful.

I was discussing turntables with a colleague the other day extolling the virtues of the bass on my old Garrard 401, he was quick to point out that it was the worn bearing I was hearing and not good bass! Just shows what I know - sounded awesome to me:doh:

Your colleague was talking arse! ;) (my very knackered and neglected 401 sounds awesome - even a crap one is great!)

I was going to ask what time was it that day that your mate removed his head from his arse?
The bass on a 301/401 is the envy of almost every other turntable old or new, cheap or very, very pricey.

That's reassuring - thought my hearing must have gone!

Although he did seem to know what he was talking about - apparently he'd designed a new bearing housing for the 401 that he'd had machined and applied for a patent - however, he was going to show me some pics but they've not materialised yet. He reckoned a Micro Seiki was the best tt he'd had/heard.
