I am waiting on a delivery of a Thorens TD203 with Ortofon 2M blue cartridge. It will replace an about 1997/1998 ProJect 6.1 with some Rega cartridge. I wonder: is there any point in having two TTs, or whether I should just give the ProJect away? I would need to get a new belt for something like $30, but otherwise, I think it works ok.
If I keep it, put a conical stylus cartridge on for old/battered records?
I am not a collector, more a pragmatist.

I also have the ProJect Phonobox pre-amp (also 1998-ish). Will keep it around to see how much of a difference it makes to use a dedicated, but possibly cheapo, pre-amp, vs. the built-in phonostage of a Rotel 1572.

Keep whichever turntable you best like using. I'm sure somebody would like the Pro-Ject.

Keep both turntables.

Buy more.

So it is 1:1 right now for keep vs toss.
I am looking for a good reason for having more than one TT. As I mentioned, I am more of a pragmatist, not a collector.
