They were in such lovely condition that I couldn't resist I'm collecting them tomorrow so will let you know how they sound.
Looking forward to seeing what you think. Kabuki speakers tend to divide opinion in that those who have never heard them think they are crap and those who have heard them think differently. But there are some clunkers out there in fairness.
Partner carefully.

How are the foam surrounds on them?
I bought the CS-77A some time back. They are my favourite speakers to date.

The surrounds on the two cone tweeters have began to perish on both speakers but the woofers and Mids are all in good nick. My thinking was if I really like them then it will be worth the effort of sorting them out. I'm looking for a big pair of 3 way speakers to go with my Lenco 75 and some as yet unspecified valve amps.
Of course this will never be a match for a Radford and big Tannoy system but I just want something that sounds like the systems I grey up listening to I love big old 70's speakers and especially love how they look and these might just be the ones I've been looking for for my 2nd system.

I'm a big fan and those who hear them become a fan too.
If the 88's don't suit, give me a shout.
Oh, definitely worth the effort if they are anything like the 77's

They look lovely Oliver, I'm going to need to get my Pioneers up off the floor obviously to give them the best shot of sounding good but the only stands I have are some Heybrook HB1 open frame jobs that luckily are not that tall about 22 -24 inches not ideal but better than the floor.

I'm currently looking for speaker stands made of wood to match the speakers. I'd suggest you do that too and add a bit of decoupling which I found really improved things.

Thanks to Oliver and all who replied but unfortunately got these wired up and both tweeters have blown as well as the foam being shot a real shame because they look so beautiful.
I'll be taking them back on Wednesday to the Charity shop but if anyone local to me in Hove fancies taking them on as a project they are yours for the £30 I paid.
So I'll keep looking and am also thinking of perhaps going down the diy route.

You can replace the tweeters and the internal foam does jack shit anyway, just rip what's left out. The big bass driver does almost all the work in these designs so as long as that is okay they are recoverable.
if you dont want to bother with them id be interested in taking them on for a project nat.

It is the foam surrounds.
It could be foam surrounds for the cones he's talking about. Still fixable though.

Ah right.Due to the age mate the foam surrounds perish as you'll no doubt be aware. There's no foam inside but there is some really dense material.
These should be great once done.........I hope lol.

There is nothing in them that can't be repaired.............if you really, really want to, even replacing the voicecoils on the tweeters can be done. Takes a lot of thought and application though.

Replacement drivers do seem frequently available from the US. I think Steve has found some.

Speakers now have a new home. Oliver’s mate Steve picked them up this morning really nice and very knowledgeable bloke who will be able to return these speakers to their former glory.
