Not your typical Young Dac...
Only recently I've changed dacs to something a step up (in price and quality) so this was sitting in my second office system, and to be honest its overkill in there.
M2Tech Young dac, with internal and external power supply improvements
Custom "HAL / Knight Rider" black version :D
Aside looking much cooler in black...the Young really responds well to good clean power, to maximise this I've made several improvements over stock:
1. Powered with an Avondale linear power supply.
2. I've swapped out the cheap Capxon decoupling cap at the power input with a Panasonic FM cap similar uf value but MUCH lower impedance and higher ripple current.
3: Much improved DC cable over stock: Ixos XHP125 cable terminated with Oyaide DC-2.1 gold plated DC plug. Best you can get, the plug sells for £20 on its own.

With these mods, the Dac sounds noticeably better than than stock.
Had this Dac a number of years and several times I've thought about upgrading but couldn't find anything significantly better sounding that made me wanted to upgrade, so I kept it.
And trust me I tried...
I took the Dac and PSU to local Naim Dealer last I was thinking of upgrading to compare to the Naim Dac, which was all the rage at the time.
Directly comparing I wasn;t impressed with the Naim, preferred what I had, much to the dealers surprise he did too.
It was when he suggested adding a 555 power supply to "see what the Naim could really do" I declined and left the shop unimpressed.
Anyway, I digress.
A stock unmodded Young sold recently here for £350, I'm looking for £350+delivery.
Some PICS, thanks for looking. :)
