Hello

I have these rarity's arriving over this weekend Benchmark Audio BM1 speakers and i cannot find anything on them they are made in Bristol and seem to be a high spec they look superb and wondering if the bass drivers are B&W? i cannot wait to hear them i do not think they are related to the american benchmark company but i could be wrong any info would be appreciated looking forward to owning them i think they are worth ago for £80

They have arrived and first impressions are very very good well worth the price....

The Impedance 4.2 ohm so i guess this means i cannot use an 8 ohm amplifier for them?

You can use an SS amp that specifies 8 ohm providing you don't overdo the volume.
With 4 ohm speakers the current levels in the output transistors will be higher, this is what blows transistors if pushed too hard. At lower volumes you will be OK.

With a valve amp that specifies 8 ohm you can still use a 4 ohm load but the valves won't have an optimum operating point, so the output will be lower. Unlikely to harm the valves, but as above keep the volume reasonable.
