But it's 'only' $1500!
Now then gents you know the rules. You can't knock it until you've tried it. Even if it doesn't claim to do anything except light up.

I don't think what it does has been called into question.
It's not foo or snakeoil, and I'm sure it will do exactly what you'd expect...............not much!
its cool.. if i had a mcintosh stack i'd have to have it :ner:

It's not my sort of thing really. The nearest I've got to anything like that are my Radford coffee mug and Tannoy ashtray. :)

From my Tannoy retailing days, I have a customised for me, bottle of Tannoy whisky.

I don't think I've got any hi-fi company merchandise at all. Pretty poor show. Quite fancy a Tannoy ashtray although I'm guessing they don't make them anymore. I've got a Zildjian T-shirt somewhere but I suppose that's from the wrong side of the microphone.

If it had been fitted with McIntosh’s blue power meters, I’d have it like a shot. In fact, why don’t they make an add-on meter unit??!
As to hi-if goodies, as well as B&O equipment, I have lots and lots and lots of B&O collectibles - jumpers, shirts, jackets, umbrellas, a golf bag, a shoe bag, a sports bag, tie pin, belt, a car gear knob, a promotional cartridge dismantled and set into acrylic, a set of dolls-House size equipment models, bottle openers, wine bottle and champagne bottle stoppers, a blanket, mugs, a pint glass, a milk jug and dozens of pens. And probably other stuff I’ve forgotten.
And, yes, I do need to get out more...

Looks more like some "McTosh", rather than "McIntosh". This product seems to be designed for fetishists possibly?
There’s actually nothing about McIntosh gear that appeals to me; I hate the font, I really don’t like the overall styling of anything they do and I don’t like the sound either. However, some people absolutely LOVE all the stuff I find so offputing.

I'm not much for the styling either but it is unique. Which makes you wonder why you would need a fifteen hundred dollar illuminated sign to tell your guests you have Mcintosh kit. Either they are into hi-fi and would recognise the brand from 300 yards or they're not and so don't care what it is anyway.

I would wait for one to come up secondhand - new ones are just too dear, even though LED technology has become increasingly affordable for your average Joe. Just look at LED tellies - started out costing thousands, now a decent one can be had for 300 quid or less.
And over time the LED (sorry, direct LED) backlighting will save you money compared to ones using a bulb. When I installed an LED security light to replace the old halogen jobbie, the savings were immediate and obvious - plummeting from 5p a year to less than a penny. :)
So that's why I would.

But they've got pretty blue meters that serve no purpose at all (except distract). Even their turntable has a pretty blue meter to tell you what the speed is (as if you couldn't tell by listening)!
But apart from that, I agree with what you have written.

hifi_dave of this parish kindly gave me a Mark Levinson polo shirt, which I do like wearing. And I'm tempted by a Nagra T-shirt, save I don't really look good wearing T-shirts.
Considering the amount of Quad gear I have, I'm surprised I haven't got a Quad sweatshirt or similar; but I don't think Quad had any made - it would have been somewhat infra dig for them to do so.

I dislike meters. Probably because of the reason some like them. Hi-Fi with meters is a bit like bathrooms with gold taps. And yes, I am a grumpy old git. So there!! ;)

If Gomez Addams Had been into Hi-Fi in the sixties it would have looked like McIntosh gear.
And I find people who have merchandise to be a bunch of posers, like the guy with the Ferrari key fob. Sad. Having said that, I do possess a Richer Sounds mug.
I can see why folks don't like it. I'm not 100% lovin' it either and the big blue meters can be offputting, but it also has something looks wise too

Personally, I love the styling and especially the meters! I’ve not heard that much stuff by them but everything I have heard has impressed.
Still want that clock...

Somewhere I have a 6" steel rule in leather case, has Vitavox on it. Many decades ago it given to me by the Technical Manager of Vitavox.

6"? That's nothing! I have an 8 metre tape measure with Stanley on it. It was sold to me by a nice man at Screwfix whose name, funnily enough, wasn't Stanley. :)

I also have a hat with 'Sony' on the front. I never wear it though, as I don't have a hat face.
That's funny I have a knife with Stanley on it and I got that in Maplins. I didn't know the name of the bloke who sold it to me but one of the girls who worked there told me 'He's a dick.'

I once bought a dick, actually a 'Rampant Rabbit' (a gift for someone else!) from a nice lady in Ann Summers. Didn't catch her name but it probably wasn't Stanley.
We seem to have moved away from McIntosh a bit.

I'll have to look for it, so it must be small!
I think I have a large King Dick adjustable, probably 12" or more, I also have a small one which was part of the tool-kit supplied with Rover 3.5 Coupe.
Also have a set of open ended King Dick spanners.
The small King Dick adjustable is very much like this:

Looks like we have a winner! I'm surprised a Rover toolkit included spanners though - I thought it would be just a hammer and a tow rope.
