Well - I just committed the cardinal sin of forum etiquette as I actually originally signed up to buy something in the Private Exhibitions section.

Shocking I know. :steam::stalks::scratch::rolleyes: :doh:

But don't worry Marco you did the right thing! Actually a member of a different Hi FI Forum recommended this forum simply because the product I was going to buy off him didn't quite suit my needs - so he pointed me over here to a product that did exactly suit my needs.

All I can say is what a guy - most would have either just sold me his product, or cut communication!

Have spent the last couple of hours reading The Gallery, Blank Canvas, The Digital Impression, The Drawing Board and Private Exhibitions I have come to the conclusion that this is a great forum and I will be staying!!!

My bank manager is worried at all these Hi Fi Forums I am joining lately. He is worried with good reason as I have not spend a dime on my system for approx 8 years or so!

Hi all.

Well thanks for the very warm welcome!!!

Firstly I'll please the Admins ;) by letting you know my name is Andrew! In real life most people call me by nickname anyway, so I would prefer it you lot just caled me Butuz too! Infact pretty much only my mother calls me Andrew ;)

Secondly music wise I like all sorts of music. I do not really like a particular kind of music (i.e jazz) I'll listen to almost anything (apart from repetitive Simon Cowell inspired pop/boy/girl band shite). So, typically my CD player will see anything from Vivaldi to Faithless to the Black Keys, and anything in between (including Coldplay!) ;)

I terms of equipment I always liked listening to my dads music from a young age (I think I inherited his wide and varied taste) Systems I remember him having are Leak Stereo 30 / Throughline Stereo / Thorens turntable of some kind (80s) through to his more modern Rotel Amp/Tuner/CDP and Tannoy speakers (90s). Through that time I made do with first my Alba midi system (80s) , and then Aiwa midi system (90s) but the less said about those the better I think.

I bought my first seperates system in '99 and it consisted of a Marantz CD4000 and PM4000 with B&W DM601. I thought this sounded great at the time and I stuck with it for some 5-6 years.

Over the last few years that system has changed, though I have not actually bought anything new. I had Heybrook Optima/B floorstanders given to me and I was seduced by the far deeper bass and immediatly got rid of the DM601s. I then had an Arcam P75 given to me and my dad made up a Passive Preamp so I could use it. That was a nice upgrade over the PM4000. I then had a Cambridge Azur 640c given to me and that blew away the CD4000.

And that's where I am today!!! Though thing's are a changing after signing up on Hifi Wigwam and on here!!! Lots of inspiration!!!

I will take a photo tonight. I actually have some new kit on the way which is realy exciting. Within the next 2 weeks the source, amp, speakers and cables will be upgraded / replaced!!
