A machine like that is a studio workhorse. Therefore it has been well used, and not treated with kid gloves. So it's not surprising there are splicing scratch marks, or even scrapes left by a metal spool that had not been properly clamped.

The important thing to ask is the condition of the heads. I notice there aren't any close-up photos of the heads! They are almost certain to need lapping.

I nearly bought a Studer C37 with meter bridge for £800 several years ago. It was in much better condition than the 807 listed. Maybe the bidder wants it for spares (one of the reasons I didn't buy the C37: spare parts are rare and very expensive).
