Well I thought I’d open up this beauty in order to get the audio capacitors values ( I’ve done so before on British amps ) but it all looks a little overwhelming [emoji30]
Can anyone tell me where I should be looking?
It is in perfect working order.

At the risk of sounding defeatist I would recommend that your next step should be to put the lid back on and forget about it. Even if you did decide which caps to change the practicalities of actually getting at them without a lot of dismantling and reassembly is would be too daunting for me.

On the other hand, if you really wanted to tackle it, I would get hold of a circuit diagram first.

My thoughts exactly, lid is back on already.

Well looking at the service manual it doesn't look too daunting.

If you had a week with nothing else to do.

Those look like quality Japanese caps to me, like those black Nippon Chemicon. If there is no bulging or leaking I bet they will still be good.

All the caps are in A1 condition ( thankfully) especially those big power caps you mentioned.

Leave well alone then and enjoy.

If the caps are gone you will notice at higher volumes, a harsh and ragged sound will ensue.

Leaving alone Neil, the condition of this amp is just beyond belief, someone must have a time machine.

I wish I could tell you Steve but I no longer use vinyl [emoji30] ( ‘‘twas a comprise with the wife ) , reviews suggest its very good though.
I’ve fallen in love with it now, the vu’s are quite mesmerising too.
Now the other dilemma is the amazing Pm4 🤷🏼*♂️

I had similar black Nippon Chemicon caps in pristine condition on my 40 y.o. Hitachi Amp which I bought with the main goal of learning how to recap. The caps look like they just left the factory, however SQ jumped into another league after I replaced them with modern audio quality Nichicon caps. Point is, caps might dry out without showing any signs.

As for the recapping, it's a quite a simple process, just solder the old capacitor out and solder the new one in ;). What was unexpectedly challenging for me was removing and reassembling the PCBs to get a good access to the capacitors. It was a proper nightmare for me, but may be your amp is easier to work on.

I've recapped many receivers and amps now and I would avoid the temptation to fiddle, it's Pandora's Box.

My Quad 405 is more like Trigger's Broom, think there's only a few original resistors left!
