Handsome! These won't hang around for too long.
Hi Roger
Not sure if you managed to look at my two PMs of yesterday yet? Looking for some additional info on your speakers at this stage.
Cheers
Ed

Hi Ed, sorry for the delay in responding, the cheviots I purchased off a bloke in Hertfordshire who (according to him) had them from new, the speakers both date from 1976 and were bought as a pair in early 1977.
The drivers have recently been re foamed as the old ones had perished, the crossovers are original. Apart from the re foam all that I have done is change the binding posts to accept banana plugs and re finished the front baffles in a high gloss zebrano to give a more contemporary look, grilles are included (though could do with a recover) & they have the pegs if you want to re install them

Provisionally sold to Carl (valves), subject to the usual
I wish I had the money for these beauty's. Gorgeous looking and I bet they sound sublime as well. They would go hand in hand with my MF AMS35i. Glws

hmmm... yes many apologies to Ed if he feels though he's been gazumped, but Carl was the first to actually offer to buy the Cheviots so I accepted that offer.
Given that my PM was apparently after Carl's it would have been nice if you had told me the speakers were already sold (or under offer) rather than leaving me hanging on by not responding to my PMs and also given the impression in this thread (a day after the PMs) that the speakers were still for sale.
I'll just leave it there.

There is an etiquette of selling and it appears not to have been followed.
Something that can’t be enforced, obviously, but anything else just isn’t cricket!
I’m sure other Cheviots will come up Edward.
So does asking questions about an item but not making an offer mean that you have first dibs on an item?

You’d have a valid point if you had offered to buy at the asking price rather than just requesting more information

No but taking over a day to respond to basic questions about a listing, that were not addressed in the original description, via multiple pms is odd.
Well it is if you are serious about selling something.

This thread does not look as though it is heading anywhere good. It may need closing if the 'inquest' over the sale continues.

Don't think there is such a thing as etiquette to selling, seller can sell to whoever he wants - 1st, 2nd or 100th person to send a PM.
If I'm selling something and more than 1 person has shown an interest I'll sell to the person who I thinks easiest to deal with and that may be because I've dealt with them before, they live nearby, they'll come and collect or a whole host of other reasons. This isn't ebay.
Not everyone sits on their pc or phone to be able to respond?
Surely they can sell to whom ever they like I would have thought.
In this stagnant market, a satisfactory firm offer is king.
F*** first dibs or first pm, no such thing in my book, had too many offers of can you keep it until next week /month only to be let down and by the time other potential buyers see the item back on the market they've bought something else.
The pms in question were highlighted at 19hrs and reply in thread to add more info was at 18hrs, they then were said to have been sold at 14hrs, don't see the issue myself. As far as I can see they're was more than enough info in that reply to do a deal.
Sour grapes/moans should be done by pm as far as I'm concerned too.
Anyway this is a sale thread, which due to the public moan is going to head south sometime soon and need locking [emoji23]
