Russ Andrews cables identification pls [Archive]

I’m trying to establish what name/model these could be ?
braided transparent cable with RA KimberKable and on the plugs it says KimberKable ultraplate contact surface .

the conductors are the same colour as the GQ interconnect although the only pics I can find show a cable with two phonos to a mini jack and there are only two conductors, whereas yours looks there are 3.

"Crystal-Cu" is likely to be UP-OCC Copper. I can't find any information on the Dielectric though.

Look nice and will probably sound good but due to the name will probably be incredibly overpriced for what they are.

The way they're made (braiding the cable) is likely to provide decent interference rejection but not as good as a fully shielded cable.

russ andrews version of the kimber timbre interconnect with the addition of a fourth conductor (Timbre has two on one leg and one on the other) to make it symmetrical. cost I think £184

Cheers Grant , now I am confused as they look identical to the Crystal cu like Oliver said?
Will my system benefit from such a cable when I only have the one pair ( my other interconnects are van den hul M.C. D102 mk3 ) ?

thats what they are...sorry.. russ andrews kimber crystal cu. was just saying what they were based on. apparently they worked well on some gear and not so well on others. out of my pay league so not tried them

If it helps, I've seen these go for about £50 for a half meter pair on the used market.

Also seen them go for more, what you need is someone who's looking for a second pair

System dependant I know but I found the Van den Hul MC d102 a bit laid back and kinda dull, not vastly so but noticeable.

You're not the only one. I didn't keep mine very long.

(kept my old Thunderline interconnects though, very nice)

These are the van den hul ones which I thought were pretty good , I’ve now swapped them with the crystal ones .
I will list these for sale shortly but before I do are the plugs on these anything special?

No mate, there are some similar plugs on eBay. Probably not the same quality but nope, nothing to get rich from.

Difficult to answer without taking them apart, I wouldn't bother taking them off the cable.

I still think you should mention these to Will at Radford Revival. I'd have thought they'd be a brilliant conversation piece, pumping out a little low level music in his customer reception area. Assuming he has one of course. :)

Show him a decent photo or two. I think the speakers look great.
