A specialist vinyl shop in Stourbridge is having a clear out for new stock to come in.
So we had to have a good look and bagged this lot:

Because they all went straight from the pressing plant to landfill?

Excellent haul of pishanto though. The best we've had for many a year.

I remember buying pretty much that same Buddy Holly compilation as one of the first LPs I got in the early 60s.

It was cheap even then as a Decca 'Ace of Clubs' re-package ... but actually quite darn good.

I am currently in the middle of disposing of my entire vinyl collection which to be honest is not that huge. So far I have sold 50 LP's via ebay to people all over the World with one really kind person paying £262 for George Michael's album 'Older'. The Cranberries album 'Everyone else is doing it so why can't we' on yellow vinyl went for just under a ton. I have had numerous others going for over fifty quid as well. So far, very happy.

I just got so pissed off with paying out quite serious money for shit quality products that I decided to knock the whole vinyl thing on the head.

I have a lot more space now as well ;)

Don't knock it - there are several good LPs there: the Fats Waller; Buddy Holly; Everly Brothers; Lonnie Donnegan skiffle, as well as the double LP 'Great Jazz Legends' collection. The 'Dark Side of the Goon' sounds like it might be amusing.

At £1 each, that is a good buy. I have just bought eight classical LPs, in excellent condition from my local charity shop, for £1 apiece.

Remember when we had the 'Pishanto Challenge' competition and someone won it in about five minutes with the 'Jimmy Savilles's Time Travels' LPs?

Just went nuclear straight off. That was funny.

I have shopped there a fair bit Allen and got some great bargains, the best being a very good condition copy of Louis Armstrong plays King Oliver for £1!!!!! These usually go for £50 in the condition I bought mine in. He has people dump stuff in his shop all the time as they clear out old collections and let him have them for nothing!

Did you see his collection of guitars, banjos and ukele and vintage Guitar valve amps?

Don't be mocking his pants, I think they're quite sexy. And no doubt have raised a lot of money for worthy causes. :)

As a relative newbie, I'm intrigued - what's this 'pishanto' thing ?

I sold a nm copy of Sound of Music at car boot on Sunday for 50p, and have quite a few Barry Manilow and Max Bygraves LP's which failed to sell. I'm guessing these would qualify?

Soundtrack was on rca. It sold over 20 mil copies so not hard to find.
Was one of the biggest grossing films ever. Think it was at about 300 mil

I think you've grasped the concept.

I may buy some of that if it was 50p each or something cheap. Its a typical selection of chazza shop or dealer rejects.

I dont know where im going with vinyl to be honest. I have restored two Duals and was planning on a Rega 2 or 3.

However its just reminding me why some crap pressings made me move away from vinyl decades ago. Ive experimented and found some gems on vinyl but the vast majority of my collection is on cd...heck Ive got way more minidiscs than vinyl albums.

In the hotel the other night a couple of young lads brought a portable speaker down, synced the phone and the party got started. I thought Hmmm yes I am looking like a dinosaur :)
