One of our very finest here along with yet another World beater, the Harrier GR9.

I used to spend weeks and weeks of summer photographing these aircraft and even now as I type this, the government are closing RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire.
I wonder if history will repeat itself again like it appears to because at this rate we will be exactly where we were at the start of WWII.

Real shame about Scampton, really going to miss the Red Arrows presence in the skies around here. Do hope Waddington survives the latest cull :(

Yes mike I suspect that RAF Waddington will be OK due to the use of digits and drones. I'm only guessing of course but I think the place is fairly future proof. I used to love parking around the site of RAF Dunholme Lodge and watching the Reds practising overhead. It used to amaze me that Dunholme Lodge was so close to Scampton considering they were both active during WWII. The whole thing also amazes me that there were over 84 airfields in Lincolnshire during WWII and now we have four soon to to become three.

The old WT station is now completely gone with only a patch of grey showing where it used to be. This is our heritage especially in Lincolnshire or 'Bomber County' as it became known.

Have a few mates that live that way. I used to work for a firm moving old planes , moved the Hunter fron Coventry (Baginton) to Lakes Lightenings.
Nice pics of the buildings at Binbrook . The trouble is with a lot of these , they were built to a plan and most are very similar ,so the pressure to preserve is not there in a lot of cases

Last time I passed it had been dismantled but there are still bits knocking about that would make an interesting derelict subject.

Lawrence yes mate I sure did back in maybe 2007. I used what was then my Hasselblad 500CM with Carl Zeiss 50mm wide angle. I also remember using a yellow/green filter to try and make something of the sky.

Very nicely caught. I never saw the Comet tank at Theddlethorpe must look for it next time I'm there.
