I have a feeling these will gain no respect on here !
Unfortunately my little Pm4 won’t do them much justice either but if you like bass these initially seem to have bags of it .https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180712/b419e84e1b277adce13a0d218658373c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180712/d242714146d5a2fe8dfd71532c8397c4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180712/9b83ce7bfe69155f82c238d3c06a92ad.jpg

They look like they might be quite good.

Well they appear to have only good reviews, pretty much unheard of in this country it seems.

RIP Arnie Nudell https://www.stereophile.com/content/arnie-nudell-infinity-genesis

Infinity made some very nice speakers and a handful of stunning speakers, the IRS range for example.

Those should be pretty good

Arnie's last project was with PS Audio and those designs should become products very soon https://www.psaudio.com/pauls-posts/arnie-nudell/

I think I’ll need to find someone with shit loads of power to hear these at their best , my 15wpc class won’t cut the mustard [emoji23]

My Chrysler had infinity speakers, they are well regarded in USA

Yes the Americans clearly love these .
Not sure whether to refurb or disassemble them though as they probably won’t sell very well over here .

Get a Denon PMA350 off of eBay, be about £70. You get that many speakers coming through makes sense to have an extra amp for testing purposes, and a 350 will drive most things.

Is it the plain dma350 or the dma350se ?

The older the better, get a Mk1 if you can.

I know Martin likes the earlier models. I opt for the SE myself, it always puts in a very decent performance.

My best mate uses one alongside his EAR 861 and he is pretty fussy.

That’s not how I recall it. A Cyrus II or Audiolab 8000A had much more grip on the speakers. I remember those Infinity speakers being imported into the UK for a while - not that long as I recall.

I've never done the comparison myself. I'm sure there are a fair few amps that have more grip but the Denons are plentiful and cheap.

Yes others have now suggested the SE model too.

Andy

You are welcome to borrow my Baldwin 405c power amp (reelaudio.co.uk) which ought to drive these speakers no problem. They are currently sitting here unloved and could do with some electricity going through it.

Mate that is a lovely gesture and genuinely appreciated but my Pm4 has no preouts and also I’m thinking that these infinity’s are not worth refurbishing

the power amp has an attenuator which works well. Just throw a line level source at it and wind it up.

I’m sure my Yamaha’s would appreciate the extra power . I never knew about the attenuator allowing a line level input ! How could I not know that ffs

Thanks for the PMs Andy and good to clear up the confusion. :)

I'm away now but back in London on Tuesday. Pop over when you get a chance to pick up the amp. Or if you prefer arrange a UPS courier. I'm pretty sure I have a box and packing that will do.
