Finally selling this scarce little gem. My Monarchy Audio SM-70 Pure Class A power amplifier. In good condition and sounding absolutely marvellous. Cosmetically near mint, but has the odd very minor mark. The last photo shows a tiny mark to the top of the facia, which is barely visible.

It delivers a very punchy 25 watts per channel and really brings my big Tannoys to life. It works beautifully with valve pre-amps, although I've lately been running it with a passive pre-amp. This also works just fine, as does a TVC.

The sound is ultra transparent and lucid with no grain at all and there is plenty of grip, giving excellent bass control.

I'm asking £465 including delivery (UK mainland), no offers thanks. Payment to be via PayPal please. PM me if interested.

What, and have you building a clone? ;)

I'll see what I can do.

By the way. This amp is not to be confused with the SM-70 Pro, which is not as good (I've had both).

Haha, no Geoff. I am incredibly tempted by this. I have wanted to try Class A for some time and this looks to fit the bill. Just wanted to see it's guts.

This little amp is seriously good mate. Well into the kind of territory Nelson Pass occupies!

Not this one. You heard the 'Pro' Alan. Unless of course you've used somebody else's. :)

The SM-70 Pro is less lucid. Still nice though.

Hardly any components in it too, always a good thing.

I'd offer swaps for something interesting, but I can't think of anything I need. :hmm:

I know nothing about the Mk.2, but I do respect Colin's designs. I wonder how it would fare against the rather decent Sugden Optima integrated some bloke flogged me a while back? :D

Blimey! That was quick.

Yes, the warm up is very noticeable. It sounds OK'ish to start with, but after about ten minutes, it's like somebody flicked a switch and the magic starts! And just keeps getting better. :)

I wouldn't have it enclosed in a rack like that; especially not in this hot weather.

Yeah. Good point, it does need a bit of breathing space, it runs warm.
