wow! That looks truly stunning.

Thank you.
It really is. Not cheap I know but a true classic cartridge in A1 spec. TBH in my current setup my DL-S1/AU-S1 just hits the sweet spot and if I sell the Briar I’ll likely buy another DL-S1 as a spare (I’m really not a very good salesman am I?)

So, what's wrong with it?

I had an original well worn example that Jimmy Hughes had used almost to death back in the mid 80's. Toppy, thin, no real 'music' despite it sounding so wonderful in Jimmy's Zeta. I played around with VTA and BANG, it all snapped into focus, surface noise all but disappeared (different to the overdamped 'smothering' that early Koetsu's did on comparison) and i think I can say that it was the best sound from vinyl I ever had until the Decca/Mentor came along.

I appreciate this one isn't as made, and the diamond fitted is fussier on alignment considering the Brier models can't easily be aligned. The next user MUST be prepared to tweak a little and maybe give the rebuild time to settle back in. Hopefully you'll be entranced as I was until I had to give it back to the importer.

Good luck.

Mmm! I think that’s a positive recommendation!
Absolutely nothing wrong with it - it is as you describe. I need to move it on to fund other stuff and as I say the DL-S1/AU-S1 floats my boat.
If it doesn’t sell I’ll likely add it to my estate for the kids to inherit [emoji3]

Looking at the cartridge, does it come fitted into a 'G' type headshell?
It looks a stunning cartridge...but I know absolutely nothing about the brand.

Hi - it's currently in the Fidelity Research headshell that it left the factory with. However, it can be easily removed from the FR and fitted into any headshell as shown in the photo.
As per info about the brand DSJR's post is very insightful - also check out the vinyl engine cartridge database.
Hope this helps.

I’ve just dropped the price to £1200 on eBay so will offer a final reduction to £1000 for AoS members.
I’d really suggest local pickup of I’ll consider drop off within 50 mile radius of Leeds. I can courier but at buyers expense and risk. Will only go fully insured so will be pricey.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkYeah, they cover £500, £1000 right up to £2500.

It's all I use for any HiFi kit and they take up to 20kg and max parcel size of 61cm x 46cm x 46cm ( £43 roughly )

I posted my Fidelity Research FR64FX tonearm and a Kontrapunkt B cartridge together today with £2500 insurance for £14 and it will be delivered tomorrow before 1300 hrs.

I use this page to get a quote before I go to the post office.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkOh and if the staff at the PO say they can't do Special Delivery because of parcel size they're wrong, and always get them to go to the medium parcel section on their screen if posting something like an amp as many of them think it should be a 'large' parcel and that only shows them ParcelFarce options.

I've had to train a few of the staff at my local PO [emoji6] [emoji23]

Hope you were paid for the staff training Mike.Unfortunately not, they all run away when I walk in now [emoji23]

Luckily one of the staff members is a friend of my daughters and I tease her by asking when she's in at work so I can post 'another' gadget

She calls me a Gadget Mike [emoji23]

We used to have a great relationship with our local post office but now closed, have to go into town now with the post office now part of a bigger store.

If I'd had as much interest from potential buyers as comments on postal services I'd have sold the Brier ages ago.
