Still to pick that up Grant, this is something more fundamental to the music.

Just spent a half hour installing them them (hint...) and yup, out with the old and in with the new.
A “ten seconder”, can tell the system has taken a serious jump right away.

Long burn in time to go through, but thats part of the fun. :)

Must be the new cable from Colin

Not from Colin no.
Tried a few times...but unfortunately to no avail.

Frequent the American forums more nowadays, and stumbled across a very highly thought of cable company called Morrow Audio?
Been using their interconnects and XLR digital cables for the last year or so, best I've heard and as good as I'm ever gonna need in my system.

Took a punt on their speaker cables after reading lots of glowing user reviews...just want to get off the merry-go-round and know I'm getting the the best out the kit I've invested in, stick a fork in it and call it done.
Their speaker cable range is here, I have the SP7.

Not the cheapest, but Interconnects and speaker cable: job done.

Work hard, dont gamble or piss it up a wall...but I do love me music. :)
Honestly, a ten seconder...crikey.

A lot of VPi folk use Morrow Audio cables so I am sure they must be good. I would try one myself if I hadn't bought the SPOTFIRE which has been the best cable I have tried over the last few years.

Hope it suits your system Gary, if not sell it half price to me!:)

Unfortunatly James, it seems to...sorry mate :)

Flexible and unassuming (but quite heavy) cable, 120 runs of very thin individually insulated silver plated copper, 2 spades amp end, 4 speaker end.

Chunky gold plated copper spades, get the impression you could tow a car with them, rock solid.

Opted for spades over banana plugs as after looking about online, the general opinion seemed to be that spades give a more solid connection, bananas better suited to cable that gets taken in and out often for convenience.

Plumbed these in, few nips of an adjustable spanner later and they aren’t going anywhere.

Soundwise, I’m hearing more of what my system can do now, particularly the new Dac.

On first listen...wow....but maybe a little lean sounding in the low end compared to the TQ?
I’d found that cable a great match for my kit, but on comparison a little bit bloated sounding in the bass.
Great scale and detail, particularly on classical, but the low end was a little thick sounding giving the impression bass detail was slightly muffled.

In my experience new cable takes time to burn in and Morrow stuff is notorious for taking a LONG time, so see what happens. :)
Sanity checked what I was hearing and plumbed the TQ back in..hmnn, or rather Oh dear.

Im hearing more of what my setup can do with this cable and that was what I wanted, to know I was getting the most out of the kit I’d invested in.

Job done, colour me happy.
Just wanted to share with the group. :)

They do say that TQ is high capacitance and so rolls off the top end, making the overall sound seem fuller and bassier. So if your new cable is more 'normal' it is going to sound leaner but more truthfull to the recording.

Noticed the same thing with amplifiers, as you get better amplifiers the bass gets leaner but really it is just the lesser amps adding a load of stodge to the sound.

That was my thought too Martin.

Sounds going to change a bit over time as the cable beds in though, so no final opinion on it yet.
Just gonna play music and enjoy it, the rest will take care of itself.

They look like they are designed for bi-wirable speakers. Does it make any difference if the red/blue pair and the black/white pair are interchanged?

Might do Barry, who knows?
I’ll try that when they have some time on them.
Meantime just hooked up as per manufacturers suggestion, sounds good.

I ask, because I wondered if the manufacturer had divided the litz monofilaments into two bunches of 60 strands each, or had chosen a larger proportion for the bass, with a corresponding smaller number for the tweeter.

Its a good suggestion, had a look and the 4 cores seem the same?
I’ll email morrow and ask.

Great to hear that they work for you and that you are happy with them.

At the end of the day, that is ALL that counts.

Enjoy ! :)
