Hi, this is my first post. Looking for a little help.

I've recently acquired a pair of Mordaunt Short Avant 902i speakers and am looking for a good used amp to pair them with. I'm a noob with a budget of up to £120ish.

From Google research I've found that the MS speakers are particularly bright and not so strong on bass, and so recommended amps are warm. That makes sense to me. I'm considering trying to get hold of a NAD C326BEE after seeing numerous tips as to this being a strong amp for these speakers, but am kinda wary since almost all posts and info I can find on the Mordaunt Shorts are from around the time of the speakers' release over ten years ago.

My question then is this... is the NAD still a good recommended amp, or would I be able to find a more suitable, or at least more modern, device for around the same price point of under £150? Or should I just go with what I know is a good pair get the NAD C326BEE?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Regards
AC

It's just for listening to tunes, nothing else.

Yeah. That'll work, I've owned one.

My vinyl player is an old Trio, so Kenwood appeals to me as that one served me well for a number of years. I appreciate that it's much cheaper, but how does it compare to the NAD listed above?

From what year is your Kenwood btw?

Arcam alpha 6+ amplifier - warm and smooth. Was £330 new in around 1995. One on ebay for £80.

Marantz maybe? (usually on the warmer side of neutral). I've got a PM7001 I would consider selling.

I'd let it go for £100. Would rather it be collected but could possibly post or deliver in person for £15-20. I don't have the original box but it does come with original remote and power lead. If interested let me know and I'll set up a proper ad in the correct sub forum to make it official.

Condition should be excellent (don't remember there being any issues). It's been stored away in the spare room for the last 2 years. What I'll do is get it out, photograph it and put up the ad (probably not until tomoz), can give you first refusal if you like?

I'm watching an item on eBay which ends today, but if I'm not able to get that then I may well be interested in your Morantz. I'll let you know later.

What are you looking at on ebay? We may have useful opinions.

I got a NAD C326BEE for £125. A little over what I'd hoped to pay, but along with the 902i's it'll be a major upgrade on my current setup.

Looks OK. Not a model I've tried, but NAD is generally a safe enough choice.

All delivered and installed. Sounds loads better than my old system! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180619/0324f365a4d0760e3345cf11404d12f5.jpg

NAD are perennially under-rated. Heard an all-NAD system a couple of years back, cd player, amp and the little speakers. My God it was good!. Right in the 'Why pay more?' ballpark.
