It is a shock that I learn of the death of Jon Hiseman of Colosseum.

I was lucky enough to see him perform very recently in April under the guise of JCM.
To say he was good is an understatement, a sad loss after a distinguished career.

That's a tragic loss. Saw him a couple of times back in the early eighties when he was performing with Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia. Was always completely blown away by his technique and control.

I've just ordered the JCM album 'Heroes', that was ironically dedicated to late friends in the music industry.

Never heard of him or the band. I'll have to have a look.

I remember them well enough. Not really my cup of tea, much like ELP and ELO to me. Not far enough 'out there'! Shame he died though.

Colosseum were one of the pioneers of jazz rock.
Valentyne Suite by Colosseum is a fine album.
John was an amazingly good drummer and nice guy.
Can't believe he has gone after only seeing him at a gig in April.
Very sad.

I'll look it up Nigel.

Oliver, that lp I gave you "Paraphernalia" is by Barbara Thompson who is Jon's widow.
She played in Colosseum after Dick Heckstall-Smith died.

I've not had chance to look the band up yet as I'm dismantling the arm on the SP10 for its upgrade tomorrow. I'll see if I can find it for my travels tomorrow.
