I have not refurbished the cabinets.
The vinyl had come away from the woofer cone but that has now been done ( thanks to the guidance from Walpurgis)

Just in case anyone else wants these, they had better be in constant touch with Andy (hourly?) or he'll throw a tantrum.
I had made a commitment to buy these with the aim of collecting on Thursday. I came down with a gout attack overnight in the early hours of Wednesday morning (which I've told others about here so I wasn't making it up and from which I'm still suffering) so couldn't collect on Thursday. I told him on Wednesday on that I couldn't come on Thursday but hoped to be better at the weekend - something still up in the air as I'm not driving again yet - and he said there was 'no hurry'.
It's not permitted to post private PMs but I think it's fair to point out that this message from him came at 11:10 on Wednesday night, less than 48 hours ago.
I find today he's put them up for sale again, and when I contacted him to find out why, he says my non-communication is 'out of order' and that he's refusing to sell these or anything else to me ever again. Fairly bizzare behaviour - just a warning to all.

Mmm... An explanation there, Andy, so we can hear your side, would be useful, although I have no reason to doubt Tom's account of events. Btw, guys, stuff like this should be posted on the feedback section.

Andy - Tom is a highly respected member here and he is not mucking you about. Take what he says as the truth.
This looks to be another one of these misunderstandings that do happen occasionally, can we leave it at that?

I had a similar experience when I wanted to buy a hashimoto SUT that went on sale here recently. I'd agreed to buy the damn thing only to find out the following morning (when I was about to pay) it had been sold on. I'm now glad I didn't bother with the fiasco. :rolleyes:

So it seems the misunderstanding here is that you didn't ping Tom a message to see if he was still coming before you put then back up for sale. Different people have different expectations of what to expect on here that's all it is.

I feel Andy has been unduly hasty in re-advertising these speakers. Tom is a long-standing and respected member of this forum, and is a man of his word. Having bought and sold with Tom on a number of occasions I can tell you that if he says he will buy the speakers, he will.
Trust the situation will be quickly resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.
I agree that I was hasty ( for which I apologised to Tom )and that I clearly miss judged Toms character for which I apologise once more .
Going public though ?
I will say no more on the matter other I do my utmost best to please members .

LAwernce I have no problems with you WHAT SO EVER! You are not at fault. It was the seller that had difficulties in keeping an agreement. Hope this clarifies things. ;)

No offence taken, I knew that, I was just trying to make light of a stressful situation (for the eventual buyer who thought it had been lost more than either of us I would think). :)

Just to share.. I used to get gout on and off and found something that works for me.
Concentrated Black Cherry juice. Holland and Barret do it. Not cheap but effective
During a bad bout I put an inch of concentrate in a tumbler and top up with water, three or four times a day.
Within a couple of days it had gone!
Now whenever I get a twinge I do the above and it seems to stop it.

Thanks for the tip, I don't suffer myself but one of my brothers is a martyr to gout, has to have time of work it is that bad sometimes, so I'll suggest he try this.

I hope Andy that Tom had some time to show and demo you his Tannoys. A reference against which other Tannoys need to be compared with.
