Can anyone advise if these are ferrofluid tweeters ? If so would the lack of ferrofluid cause it not to work at ?

I believe they are ferrofluid units. Dried or missing fluid would not stop it from working if the coil is intact, although it does rely on the fluid for heat dispersion to and extent, so it could have gone pop!

Understood Geoff, wishful thinking on my part .

Just in case you’re still wondering, they don’t have ferrofluid. It might be worth removing the faceplate. The diaphragm and voice coil will come with it and it should be possible to see if there are any breaks in the lead-ins. If so, it may be possible to repair with a bit of judicious soldering. Nothing to lose if they’re not working!
