My given name is Jan Mortensen. A Dane by birth.
My nick "slate" has been in use since I was a kid playing "Donkey Kong", "Asteroid" and other classics at the local food joint.... I can't recall why I choose that... to many years have passed.
I like most kinds of music allthough most of my collection consists of albums from the 80-90's. I like classical music, but it is only lately that I have really started buying classical albums.
Equipment wise I have a tendency to stick to what I buy. Except from a couple of speakers that went to my brother, things stay until they go to the scrapyard.
For me streaming is the future, I spent the winter evenings converting my CD colletion to FLAC. Hmm that is 2 years ago now. The following summer I bought my first Squeezebox (Duet).
As someone stated: "buy a squeezebox and you will soon find that they multiply". So last summer I bought my second squeezebox receiver having it sent directly to Audiocom for modifications.
This winter a Caiman entered the house and I "leaned" my setup. My old trusty Luxman LV-107u and Carver pre-amp went down to the basement to join my CD collection.
The only thing that I consider, from time to time, is to replace my main amp. Sometimes I feel that the sound is a little muddy, but then I shift to the classical radio channel and turn up the volume and that is forgotten.
Yes those 704 needs a bit of volume to open up :)
