I'm glad to be a part of your community.

I was attracted initially by all the chatter about SL1200's. I had just bought one, and I'm an insatiable modder.

Among other things, I'm lucky enough to head up the local audiophile society. As such, I get to hear lots of gear, and much of it in my rack. Most recently, I was able to audition a majority of the SL1200 mods available (minus the Timestep kit).

An easy way to get to know me better is through the audio blog that I write - baasnotes dot com.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Bob and welcome to AOS!

I'll be around and about in your neck of the woods on a fly-drive in August. What will the weather be like and any must-do things to see?

Hi Bob,

Welcome to AOS :)

Excuse my ignorance, but where in the world is the silcon valley?

{Edit: just Googled it... San Francisco Bay. You'll have to excuse us Brits for not being au fait about such things!}

Marco.

Hi Bob,
It sounds like you may have a lot to offer our friendly little community.
Welcome to the Art of Sound!

I took my family to the States a few years ago on one of our mammoth road trips & I remember spending hours driving around Sunnyvale one Sunday evening - the night before the flight home from San Francisco airport, looking for a motel to stay in. I hated the way the guys behind the desk would look me up & down trying to decide what I could afford to pay & how desperate we might be for a bed for the night. When I protested about one guy's price, he said 'Welcome to Silicon Valley!'
You'll be glad to hear that we drove to Santa Clara & found a great place there & had a fantastic buffet meal in a place down the street that night.
I'd take your town over Sunnyvale any time!!

HI Bob

Welcome to AOS.

A few photos of your set up would be nice to see, in the Gallery section; if you can.

What kind of music do you like?

Hi Bob, and welcome to AoS. I love the Bay area - though been almost 10 years since I was last there. You're in the right place for Techie advice. Enjoy!

Warm and dry - beautiful, in fact. When you get closer to your trip, drop me a line re 'things to do.'

I love just about all kinds of music, and honestly have no favorite.

My system is always in flux, and has become quite complicated to describe (lots of DIY now).

Some constants: SL1200, Mac Mini music server, RME Fireline, Goldmund monoblocks, PHY-based speakers, open baffles.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Surely you jest! ;~)

Nope... I've never been to America and know next to nothing about it or its geography. I would love to go though, and will do sometime fairly soon! :)

Marco,

Your side trip to Idaho to see some tubers, might involve you driving along a turnpike. Looks like it could be quite an education! ;)

You mean he doesn't like tubers ?

Marco

Or maybe he thinks we're just a bunch of tubes!

Dimitri, that's a colloquial English expression you may have to look up ;)
