View Full Version : Benefits of Using Tannoy in Corners of Room

Hi Guys


I am rearranging my room and i would like to use my Tannoy 615 MK2 in each corner of the room is this advisable as i am going back to using Tannoy full time so would like to know the Pros & Cons from the gurus of this forum i have never tried this so looking all options...


Help would be appreciated

You won't know until you try it. If it booms, move them out of the corners.

FWIW my Tannoys' don't work at all right into the corners, although they are vented at the side, moved half a metre or so out into the room and they work a treat.

Tannoy 'sixes' tend to be fairly room friendly, so I reckon there shouldn't be problems (but you can never tell :)).

I'd say it's not advisable. For a small speaker they have quite a generous bass response. I think they will sound quite odd in the corners.

Never heard a speaker sound right sat in a corner, even a Lowther corner horn, although that was probably nothing to do with the corner placement.

I'd give it a shot but don't be too surpised if it's a bit boomy. You probably don't need to come in very far from the sides though to find an optimal position. I quite like the Sixes, my son got my pair and runs them fairly close to the back wall but in from the corners.

It's your room, we aren't there, just try it and see if you like it.
I'd speculate however that they will drone when loaded by corners but only you can test it-could be a match made in heaven.
