Don't know much about these things but if anyone has a low hours low to mid price "giant killer" MM cartridge suitable for an SME3009 I'd be very interested. As I only play a few records a year I can't justify spending much, but my budget Audio Technica one (yellow one) isn't that good and I just go back to CD when I hear it.

Try and pick up a Technics EPC-U205 with aftermarket stylus. They go for little money and take something special to sound better.

I have a Shure M97xE with only about ten hours on it. You can have it mounted in an AT SME fitting headshell for £100.00 or without the headshell for £85.00.

I have an ADC ZLM, new old stock. It's in very good condition and the currently fitted stylus has had perhaps 10 or so hours use. These go for wild amounts of money on ebay. You can see a few on there at the moment. I'll price it at £150 including postage. It came fitted to a deck I bought and does not have original box or stylus guard but I'll make sure to package it securely. This classic rarely seen cartridge was top of the ADC range in its day.

Sounds like a nice cartridge but are you sure it's NOS if it was on a used TT you bought?

Seems like a good budget cart but they are not much more on Amazon bundled with some brush device accessory. My arm is the fixed headshell type so I don't have any use for the headshell. Thanks all the same.

Valid point.

I haven't really got a clue, but looking at eBay, there has only been one NOS M55e cart listed / sold and that went for£113, so, I would say £ 90 (?) is reasonable.

Regarding ADC ZLM. I bought it on a turntable sold by STD 305M on this forum. At the time it had 5 hours on it and I put probably another 5 hours before I went back to my Denon cartridge. The old stylus was included in the sale as well but as far as I know is not usable.

Glad you like it.Hi Steve of course I remember now. Yes sounds great, had an annoying issue with a tag falling off when I removed the cheap AT cart grr frustrating time with a 3009 with non removable headshell. Unless I missed a simple trick?

Sound wise at last I've got vinyl sounding better than CD, only taken me 28 years from buying my first "separate" to get there!!

AT110e with aftermarket stylus from Thakker. Had very little use with the current stylus. You can have a listen if you're anywhere near Shepperton. £30 collected, £33 posted.

Oops! Too late I see.

I have a new old stock Audiotronics AMC70ED which comes in original box and instructions This is effectively a Shure M75EJ and rebranded by them for sale in the UK by Laskys. The EJ stylus is a biradial (0.4 x 0.7mils) with a tracking force of 1.5 to 3gms. Asking £28 inc P&P.

Nice offer. That should be fine in the SME.

The AT95EX for £43.90 brand new is a cracking budget MM, I use one on my ATLP5 turntable and for the money I think it’s unbeatable.

I have an Audio Technica AT 440mlb with a maximum of 80 hours. However, the cantilever is very very slightly bent to one side but you cannot see this when it’s in the groove and it tracks perfectly with identical left and right channel outputs. I’ve compared it with a brand new one and I can hear no difference. £65 delivered. Detailed picture on request.

Thanks all I'm now sorted (and have been for some time) although that AT is tempting [emoji3]
