I am in discussion with the suppliers about a possible group buy / discounted case. If you might be interested in getting one can you let me know so I can estimate numbers ?
All depends on eventual price of course. Normal cost is, I think, about €60 so will see what might be on offfer.

The European price includes duties and taxes payable. Yes it looks pricey vs the cost of a Pi but with equipment good casework is often a major cost.

guys, the case is more than just a case... its also has a well designed heat dissipation layer that keeps the RPI cool for trouble free continuous play.

The Allo Sparky/RPi case is ok, there are better looking aluminum ones IMO and some that act as heat sinks.
The pictured one can still be had and similar are also available, all the ones I've seen have been in the States. All CNC machined from solid, with a protrusion that sits on top of the chips to conduct the heat into the case. Some polished, some brushed and anodized clear or colours.
It's a lot to spend on a case though, you could get a nice HAT for that amount.

I'd like the Allo in silver but it's great in black. The outriggers on the corners make the Allo look like a sci-fi space ship....more funky to my eye than the US one pictured. Bear in mind the Allo case is for Pi + DigiOne only so production numbers will be lower than a generic Pi case (maybe).

Yes the Allo case is molded so if sold in qty the price comes down, but variants become a problem, you can only do so much with inserts in a tool.
The CNC versions are heavily worked (£££) and cost does not come down with volume to any great degree. The advantage is they can easily accommodate any design combo and at least one company is advertising customization to your requirements, but it all costs.

The thing I don't like with most of the SBC designs, is the way the connectors come out of several faces, this does not help with case design/cost. I know this is because of the original design parameters, which were not audio related, but we do tend to have our Audio equipment in nice neat rows on racks with all the interconnects on the back. At some point, one of the manufactures will realize the large Audio/Home Theater market is worth developing a specialized board for.
In the meantime, we have to buy adapters/extenders etc if we want to get everything out the back.

Generally I think all SBC's look pretty ugly, as tiny boxes with fairly chunky stiff/heavy cables hanging out in a haphazard fashion, to the point where it's difficult to get the thing to stay where you want it, the cables have other ideas. :D

My bad, they make cases for lots of SBC's, it was the first image that came to hand and I didn't check the port configuration.

Very interested in your Kali I2S reclocker by the way, have a project coming up which could include this in the build.

Edit: I think its a RPi Model 1 B pictured

Just firming up price with Allo.
I know its difficult to commit without an accurate cost but if you coul d let me know if you are interested I can discuss numbers with Allo. We need at least 10 buyers to get a discount.

OK, discount is 25 to 30% depending on numbers.
Needs min of 10 purchasers.
You can then order from wherever you like (France / US etc) and make the saving on the price for that source.
Bear in mind you may be liable for duty and taxes (outside of EU).

My case arrived today. Looks fantastic and has a nice weight to it. However there is a big design flaw in my opinion - the power inlet is too close to the leg. The original Pi power supply just about fits but even that is a squeeze. For anyone with an adapter like mine, it won't fit. I had to file it down (the adapter) and while it now fits, it's still at a slight angle. I know there are some different types of adapters (some are tiny cables) so maybe those fit fine.

"Big design flaw" is somewhat over the top. I must admit I was dubious about clearance when I saw the space available but I've used 3 different cables and all fit, albeit snugly. The problem is that you're using a fat adapter. When I use an adapter I use use one with a short cable between the microUSB and DC socket. I wouldn't want to use a solid adapter as it applies too much leverage to the delicate microUSB socket. However with yours now wedged I suppose that fixes the leverage issue.

I just used what I had to hand. I can't be sure the plugs will fit and I don't know the size of your DC plug but there's loads to choose from. Even if you needed to file down one side of one of these plugs it would be less of an issue than filling down a solid adapter.

due to the RPI forma factor and the way the peripheral connectors are laid out, space for the micro USB is not ample... but more than enough.

we have a tested with many micro USB connectors and majority fit well, only the older thick ones dont...
we even have a DC to microUSB adapter available.

if someone really needs one, i will ship some to our distributor in the UK (ModmyPi) and they can get one very cheap.
