Hi guys, first of all I should say that I know very little about TT’s and absolutely nothing about this TT but it came as part of a purchase.
I’ve always believed that these are not for Hifi enthusiasts , is that correct?
Trouble is I sold all my vinyl [emoji30]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/07df60acca7067c7036c77f37640236d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/849cebfb8965de4b8e372e4ac593f387.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/17958c9e3c336bf40d8bc4d1621c81ec.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/df782a22ab0bc13e70f60f884ace136d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180519/11ee7e97b16a034ff63246ab087a2ad4.jpg

They are a nice turntable even in standard condition and are certainly 'Hi-Fi' quality!

That looks a very good one by the way.

Thanks Geoff, ok here comes a TT newbie question... how do I know if this is mm or mc ?

The cartridge head is an Ortofon and should be MM, but I believe they did make an MC that shape. There should be a model number on it. You can bung a standard headshell on the arm to fit regular shaped cartridges with half inch mounting holes if you want.

MM then

Yup. It may sound OK, but it's not what I'd use.

I won’t be keeping it Geoff, the wife is patient and forgiving when it comes to my love of Hifi but she’s drawn the line at 100’s of albums around the lounge again [emoji20]

Just buy one record and play it over and over again. She'll soon cave in. ;)

I had the most beautiful Michell focus one S that I sold ( bloke flew in from Paris for it ) so I’m not sure the technics will cut it after that .

You will be surprised how good they are , As said , change the head shell and invest in a half decent cartridge , Set up the VTA and tracking weight and away you go , You DO HAVE ROOM for some LP's even if you keep them under the stairs in a box , All homes have some room , Just start out with a dozen of your favourites , from ebay or car boot sales , Oh what fun and you WILL notice a big sound improvement over CD or streaming :eyebrows:

The Techie is actually really nice to use. Everything just works so well, it feels classy.

You need to be early or the dealers buy up anything interesting and leave the Mrs Mills and Harry Seacome
Normal prices that I pay are £1 - £2 each , Make sure you take the LP out and look for damage / scratches
