View Full Version : Repairs/sevice to Marantz PM84mkII
Hi - the volume knob on my Marantz is playing up, with the sound cutting in and out as you turn it, with lots of crackling. Anyone know a solution and if not, know anyone good who can repair it? I live in Oxford.
Cheers
Nick
Might need a clean, there's a thread on here about doing it. Use deoxit.

You should be able to get a temporary fix with switch cleaner sprayed into the volume control. It does sound like the control could need replacing as it is at the stage of cutting out.
I could do it for you, I'm in the West Midlands, but near Dudley.
Cheers,
Alan
Thanks for the advice. So do I just pull out the plastic knob and squirt straight onto the metal spindle?

No. Take the case off and squirt switch cleaner into the volume control potentiometer and work the knob back and forth a few times. If you're not happy to do this, you'll need professional help.
