Damping Jelco tonearm

I finally decided to use the silicone oil damping fluid into my Jelco tonearm. Wasn't expecting any change, but my oh my, it did push that tonearm to another level. Noticeably cleaner, more relaxed, more detailed sound. Blacker blacks and all that.

Anyone else had shareable experiences with damping their tonearm with silicone oil?

I must be missing out as I cant find any black in my system :( let alone hear it , so dont know how black can sound blacker :(:(

I have dabbled with arm damping on my AR XA where I fabricated a replacement arm tube using some aluminium tube as part of a rescue exercise. I then experimented with using a thinner PVC tube inside the aluminium. The main reason was to add mass to the arm but I was also interested if it would dampen any ringing. I used PVC not because of any magic properties but because my local DIY store sold it and it was cheap. There appears to be an improvement but no idea if it was the added mass or damping.
