Hi Everyone,

I am sure everyone has now heard the very say news that OPPO are leaving the domestic hardware market to concentrate on their mobile phone market which apparently is the biggest part of their business, I think this news has come as a shock to many, myself included, I have been using OPPO players long before setting up HiFi lounge so this news is certainly going to leave a big hole in the market for quality and affordable disc spinners and I think that I will always remember where I was when I heard the news very much like when I heard that Pioneer were pulling out the Plasma TV Market, an equally sad day, but the world continues :)

The good news is that we have just heard that OPPO have setup their European warehouse as promised, I understand that this is where all the remaining stock for the UDP-205 and 203 will be held so we can still supply at the moment, I have no idea how long this stock is going to last so if you want one of the last OPPO players then please feel free to get in touch asap so as to make sure you don’t miss out, I know I will be ordering a UDP-205 for myself.

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi All,

I just wanted to update this to say that I have been speaking to the new OPPO European distributors and basically they are hoping to be able to supply UDP-203′s and 205′s until December, they have 3 containers full coming over at the moment but they are expected to sell out straight away as they are supplying the whole of Europe but all being well there should be more Containers following shortly after.

It is only the players these guys are supplying so there will be no fresh supply of Dac’s or headphones unfortunately.

I have ordered a few of each player which should be with us around June / July time so if you would like to reserve one just let me know.

Regards,

Paul.

I would be interested in a 205, but would like to ask a couple of questions:

Can it be supplied already configured to be 'all region', and would that also apply to the playback of convention DVDs?

Who would undertake any within warrantee repair?

Thanks

Hi Barry,

Yes I can order it as Multi Zone for every region on both BD and DVD, this costs £100 more, as for repairs these will be carried out by someone who works at OPPO UK currently so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks,
Paul.

Thanks for that Paul.

One more question: can it play audio CDs, and how does the playback performance compare with that of dedicated player? (I use a Studer-Revox C221 professional broadcast standard player).

Hi Barry, Funnily enough we sold more OPPO's as CD players to our customers as they do sound very good, a lot of them never saw a DVD or BD :-) Not sure how they would compare to your player though as never heard it unfortunately.
