Example artists are just that, examples to suggest a genre.

Agreeing to 3 common tracks, please choose only 3 of the following:

1. A well known Led Zeppelin track
2. A well known Dire Straits track
3. A track from Yello (eg The Race)
4. Jazz (eg Dave Brubeck Take Five)
5. A classical track
6. Girl with Guitar track
7. Blues (eg Lightning Hopkins)
8. Rock/Blues (eg Gary Moore)
9. Strong Male Vocal (eg Andrea Bocelli / Tom Jones)
10. Torture track -complex music. Please specify.
11. Another genre. Please specify.

Bloody hell, it's hard to suggest only 3 but I really have a soft spot for the Dave Brubeck number.

That's why I thought a poll would be a good idea.

I've voted but I think I should point out that 'Tom Jones' and 'Torture track' amount to the same thing.

You don't really want something with super lush production for a test though. That's the easiest stuff to do well, that and anything with a very simple mix.

You want something where they've used all 48 tracks and run it through a shitload of processing. If it can unravel that, it's a good-un.

course you do.. can do a complex one too.. but no lush? pointless then, as thats the ultimate for the ears

You should do lush but it's only a test of how well it does lush. That's all I'm saying. Obviously you're gonna play some lush, that's a given.

Yo, Fireybum:eyebrows:, is this in reference to the forthcoming Stoke bake-off, of bake-offs in general? If it's the latter, then this shouldn't be in Community Network;)

Marco.

How utterly dare you insult me like that :ner:

It is specifically about the Stoke meeting although should give pointers for future events.

:D:D

Ok, I'll amend the thread title to reflect that. It's just that this section of the forum is strictly for arranged member bake-offs, rather than general discussion of bake-offs:)

Ok, so i voted

Yello - any track Great production and SQ (even though im really not that keen on them)
Dire Straits - Private investigations, Lots of atmospheric noise. Shoes walking across a hardwood floor etc.
Dave Brubeck - Take Five

I do think a good Thin Lizzy track like "Rosalie" is needed. need to know if the phonostage can handle the grit in the guitar sound SO i'll substitute Dave for Thin Lizzy - Any Track
