The smaller round pin is positive.
You may also find a thin moulded ridge down the outside of the PVC insulation sleeve on the positive conductor of the cable.

DIN connectors are the creation of satan. Invented by germans so need I say more?
A tenner to anyone who can solder 6mm2 cable to the bloody things! :lol:
