Actually the M is for metric - but it's the same difference. As Grant says M6 = 6mm diameter and M8 = 8mm diameter.

Yeah M8s which are often found at the base of equipment racks in particular. I think M6 are most popular in speaker stands top plates and isolated shelves.

Roksan sent me a load of spare spikes at one point. I can remember why I asked but they were very helpful. I have loads of the things now all oiled and sealed in a bag
