I am a newcomer here. I am retired & live in France. My set up consists of Notts Analogue Interspace Junior/Spacearm/Dynavector 10x5, also Audio Technica AtPl-120 (used for playing 78s & 45s) with full set of Rek-0-Cut audiphile styli, Graham Slee Jazz Club, Quad 66 preamp & CD player, Quad 306 amp & KEF 104/2 speakers. I love it & have fun!

:rolleyes:Sorry I forgot to list my musical tastes; Classical, Jazz, 60's pop (what I used to dance to!)Old 78s of all descriptions; it is amazing how good they are when played through the right equipment & re-equalised.

Welcome...:)

Get yourself a 606mk2 as soon as you can - your KEF's will expand hugely........ The music will thank you for it

Hi Tea

(.......cucumber sandwiches on the lawn anyone?)

Welcome to the AoS!
I'm interested in your use of the EQ functions on the phono amp - do you find yourself making the most of them?
Perhaps you might find the time after a while here to describe the options and what they're best suited to, by starting a thread in the 'Strokes of Genius' section, which iswhere we put reviews of equipment.
Cheers

My other name is Julian. I must look into the 606 Mk2, Thanks DSJR:lolsign:. the jazz club is used a lot for re-equalizing maninly 78s but also a few early mono LPs. The difference is amazing but almost as important is the stereo/mono switch on the back. Switching to mono cuts out a hell of a lot of noise on scratched discs:). In this regard the tilt & filter controls of the Quad are a great help too:cool:.

I know some people paint most Quads with the same brush, but I found *at home and with absolute phase attended to as Quads invert the phase,* that the 34 and 306 either used separately and especially used together, sound a bit "limp wristed" for want of a better term. I do appreciate the KEFs you have are tonally as neutral as it gets and the impedance curve is benign IIRC, but the more than double the power of the 606/707/909 really will help. Just bare in mind that the 606 mk1 needs a couple of hours from cold to sound (and measure ;)) at its best.....
