Darren from London, just noticed I've had an account since 2011 and never posted. I currently have an AV system with Proac Tablettes Ref 8 Sigs and Definitive Audio surrounds, it's fine with music and movies but the location and kit is restrictive for more serious listening. I'm in the process (read thinking/auditioning) of building out a new HiFi system for music - streamer, DAC, new Amp and speakers - slowly,slowly.
Music tastes are varied Jazz (intimate small band stuff), blues, soul, funk, rock (more of a Stones than Beatles person), hip hop (mostly older due to my age). I grew up in the 70's and 80's (I wish I hadn't sold my Technics 1200's), music I hated in the 80's I actually find myself listening and appreciating more now. I guess I prioritise performance, realism timbre etc. music more than the last elements of etched detail. I have similar issues with TVs - sharpness features making images and motion look unrealistic to the eye, I get similar feelings with certain digital audio hardware.
