Well I've read the blurb and, discounting the obvious fluff and evangelism of a new idea, I don't think it's a bad idea. Laser cut ceramic stamps seen a step forward, and no waffle about digitals anywhere. Agreed the crap about total elimination of radial vs tangential tracking error is somewhat embarrassing, but worth suspending disbelief.

This isn't new, I remember reading about it a couple of years back. It makes sense to me, you should get a much more accurate pressing. Not that it is a pressing anymore but that's the whole point isn't it? Imagine records with no off-centre holes. If I was still into vinyl I'd be quite excited about this, although I wouldn't really want to consider buying my collection all over again.

Yup, bollox to it. As soon as you apply any form of digital processing to vinyl, you're no longer listening to a true analogue sound, which consequently, adversely impacts on the music. Fact: Every applied 'process' in the recording or replay chain imparts a sonic signture.

So leave vinyl alone and keep it pure! :exactly:

I've looked through their blurb and still see no explicit reference to digital processes in the translation from electronic to physical format. An HD master will almost certainly be produced digitally now, as it will for conventional pressings so I can't see an obvious change of quality in that. Transcriptions from original master tapes from the golden age can still be kept analogue, to my mind its just the pressing process that is changing, and reliable quality new records seems to be an honorable aim. So let's wait and see since it's coming anyway, the only frightening thought is yet another generation of people playing out loud those cursed clocks on DSOTM :)
