Just an idea, but I have various hifi related bits and bobs that are not really worth enough to sell but worth enough not to throw away. Rubber isolation feet, Media Centre remotes that will work on Windows, Android and Kodi, the odd cable, various adapters, etc..

Just wondering if anyone else has accumulated such curiousios and if it is worth having a swapshop thread so we can offer the odd potentially useful thingy and have a bit of fun trying stuff out?

Over the years I have accumulated second copies of cds (perhaps as many as 40 or so). Most of these have been gifts and I have not felt able to say I already had a copy).

I am not really interested in spending a lot of time selling these but I might be interested in swapping batches of 5 or 10 at a time for cds I do not have. Quite a wide range in terms of music. If there is any interest I will take some photos and post on this thread. Only proviso is that the swaps have to be in excellent condition like mine.

I have a Project Debut Carbon in blue/Ortofon Red with a Project phono box . Probably has not done more than 10 hrs and is 2 or 3 yrs old boxed too !
I dont use it as I prefer to change headshells on my old Fergie belt drive deck to suit different occasions so shes hardly been used !! (I am just awkward I suppose:))
I would like to consider swapping for a good DAC or RCM plus money either way:eyebrows:

Pioneer S-DJ05 Active speakers.

A very non-hifi item I know, but I used these for many years and enjoyed them. They are neutral and quite revealing, so they may take a bit of setting up to get them sounding their best. Also need to be on a good solid base or stands.

Would be really great as a compact or second system where space is an issue as they have 2 balanced inputs, 2 unbalanced inputs, built in by-passable EQ and effectively a built in preamp; you can control volume, inputs, mute, EQ on/off from the little puck.

They have some phase plugs in at the moment, but I can include the dust caps that can be glued back on (I can do this if required). Also have some thick steel plates glued to the bottom at add some extra weight and dampening to he cabinets. Also I added some pre out connections to allow connection to a sub.

Only worth £100 these days, so put in the Swapshop to see if anyone is curious and wants to swap for maybe a. Decent mains block (I could do with one for my analogue setup), or maybe a DAC with balanced outputs.

Pretty heavy so collection or a meet up somewhere would be ideal, if not maybe a contribution to delivery cost.

Anyone fancy swapping my Mordaunt short pageant series 2 for a CD player or maybe DAC?

I bought these from symon (Peter) in February for £40 so let's say the same collected only though.
I only used these while I refurbed the cabinets on my edingdales and I must say they really are excellent sounding. I was quite shocked.
As he stated in his listing one of the switches isn't working but if all left in the upper position they sound great. Easy fix for someone with the knowledge I'm sure.

Anyway, I have refurbed these cabinets too as there were quite battered and bruised. I've sanded them right back to the veneer and rubbed them with walnut stain and finished them off with Tung oil.
I also glued some pleather to the fronts just to make them look better when the covers are off. I've ordered some port tubes for them too but there coming from China and still haven't arrived. If there not here by the time there gone I'll send them on to you.

Yes it is a shame but it would cost a fortune in postage.

I had the Pioneer 717. I had 1 in gold. I won it years ago for £15 on eBay. Was a brilliant CD player too.

I may buy another Cyrus CD player. I enjoyed the CD7 when I had it.

It's a very good mono reel-to-reel machine, but IMO nowhere near the value of a pair of Tannoy Westminsters.

At 10mm thick they might make a nice discreet alternative to granite speaker bases. Alternatively, I have used spare glass shelves sitting on fixed shelves on sorbothane hemispheres as an effective vibration absorber.

Any interest in a heavy duty 10m HDMI cable. I used this with a projector situated at the opposite end of the room to my Bluray player and screen. Worked very well but no longer required since going the wifi route.

I have some old 1980s Yorkshire Hi Fi 1.3 bookshelf speakers. The speakers are in good condition, one of the edging pieces has come off, and the foam inside the speakers has obviously deteriorated.

In their day they were well reviewed, see the link. I'm sure they would make an interesting easy project for someone for a second or third system

I currently run a Denon CD player into the Yamaha A -S 501. It does not have the built in DAC like the later model does .

Well mine came a couple of days ago . I set it up albeit with a coaxial digital input as my Denon CD player does not have a Toslink for some reason (much be a cheap thing lol )
Pleasantly pleased , I even turned off Pure Direct on the Yamaha amp and listened to a bit of Supertramp . Bit more treble and wooo , really enjoyed it . There again I did not spend ten minutes listening just through the rca to rca out puts on the cd /amp , the way it was before !

Swap shop has gone quiet anyone got anything to swap? I've got some cables and a few other bits I can dig out. A 13.8V PSU I turned down to about 12.8V and used with my Liv Zen streamer any good? It will power other 12V computer type streamers too.

Which is why I don't offer stuff for free - it's too much faff to take photos. I have some valves I don't want to keep and would happily pass on to someone here, but it would require me to take dozens of photos to satisfy the rules.
