Put a dose of this when filling up last week and engines smoother at idle and a bit free-er when putting the foot down.
Fill up with V-Power which has cleaning agents but even then, this stuff improved things.
Your experience?

Yes the same. Saw it used on an older car on Top Gear, that measured hp before and after, added about 20hp I think, so it does work. Tempted to try a Terraclean.

I believe this contains Ethanol, isn't this what causes the fuel to burn slightly better because of energy density being less?
Depends on the age of the car, with some manufacturers it might invalidate the warranty.
Otherwise it's just Foo for cars. :)

Not really, there was a measured increase in horsepower in that segment of TG.
Mostly I suspect from the Redex cleaning the injectors.
On an older engine take the sparkplugs out, tip in a teaspoon of Redex, put the plugs back in, leave overnight. When you start the engine it will smoke a lot at first but quickly clear. Makes a big improvement as this frees up gummed piston rings and softens carbon build up. In the fuel it cleans fuel lines and injectors and carburettors, if you still have one lol.

I've still got one. I took it off one of my modified cars about thirty years ago and it's hung on my garage wall since! :D
(it's a Japanese Hitachi made 'flat top' SU HS4 carb from a Datsun 260Z, I had it on a tuned Mini)

I am mate, I was always getting my hands dirty on the old nuggets I used to own. I had and still have a soft spot for 2 stroke engines, Redex was brilliant for de-coking them. God I miss my old Yam RDs.

I wouldn't call it foo. It's based on sound science, and it doesn't need a fertile imagination to observe the results. :sofa:

Obviously based on science as Redex will be using quality scientists to stay top of their game for so long.
Will work reasonably well for an older style engine; decoking rings etc.
However what I alluded to as Foo, on much more modern designs, all the sensors pretty much are doing the same job. Self cleaning etc.
I would think, servicing on schedule, quality oils and filters with good long runs to stop gummy build up of carbon deposits negates the need for additional foo! [emoji1]

Redex is fine (and works, as you've found), but as usual with these things, the Yanks do it better, simply because they're majorly into engine tweaking [of all sorts], and so their products tend to be more rigorously tested:

I use their Diesel Enhancer (see here: https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1032-red-line-85-plus-diesel-enhancer.aspx ), which is top notch [a level above that offered by Redex, Wynns, STP and the like]. Opie also offer first-class service :)
Give it a go and see what you think in comparison. Redline engine oils are also very high quality, especially their ester-based ones :cool:

Put a can in this morning and ran the car for 50 miles or so.
Has made a much bigger improvement than Redex, cars running better than it was when I picked it up last year.
Very very smooth now and goes like stink.
I’ll be sticking a can if this in every 5K miles or so and call it done.
Redex was good, but not a patch on this stuff.

And talking of Yanks and cars, whilst watching Top Gear a few weeks back, I was blown away by the looks and performance of the new Dodge Demon:

I'm, so old that I remember when Redex was free at petrol stations.
The assistant would ask, "How many gallons sir, and do you want any shots?"
Shots were shots of Redex from a large can, normally, one shot per gallon of petrol.

yup.. its all about ratios. ;) can work with plugs in too, but its silly hard work. only good side is its less likely to run back down slope. you may need a collection of handles and arms to get it up the dune tho

Thank you Geoff. I came back yesterday about 4:30 PM, since then just been taking it easy and using the pain killers supplied. It was the Royal Free Hospital, all staff were very good.
