I think i joined AOS back in 2014,id just got back into hifi since the 80's.
ive always posted separate threads on things i have bought over the years,so i thought it was about time it was under one thread so you can see my journey so far.:)

So it all started with a very modest turntable, amp and speakers.
Sansui SR-212,very much in the same vein as the pioneer pl-12.

I had some JBL control 1's back in the 90's in my cabinet making workshop, they always impressed me for their size so i bought these again new.

The amp was a Sansui 555,a great started amp,i think i paid £80 for it,sorry no pictures :(

The first thing i bought for the TT was a new AT-95 cartridge which sounded very good for its modest price, little did i know the upgrade bug had started :D

After a few months my record collection started to grow and to go with it a pair of Celestion Ditton 15XR speakers were purchased, they brought to the mix some added bass that the dear little JBL's couldn't deliver.

Later on down the road i realized it wasn't a passing nostalgia phase and decided to treat myself to a new TT.
This time i went with a Revolver TT with a Linn Basik tonearm, very pleased i was too and to top it off the seller sold me a nice rack to put them in.
Also i had upgraded the stylus on the AT-95 to the H.E version, hyper elliptical.

You can just see my Sansui amp below as well.

There has been a free fix for the Photobucket issue for a while.

Just insert 'Photobucket fix' or similar into the search engine of your choice and it'll give you the links.
Works fine for me. All my old Photobucket pics are back up.

You've had a really nice selection of progressively better equipment and through trial and error and learning and listening you have now got yourself a seriously good system.
Also thanks to your enthusiasm and help my own system aint bad either. Top work mate.

The ditton 15XR's were recapped, the start of my fiddling had begun!
Each crossover only had 1 cap and after recapping they still sounded a bit flat in the top end.
Enter a fantastic little speaker, the Mordaunt Short Pageant series 2.
i bought these from gumtree, the lady owner kept them in wonderful condition and even had the original bill of sale.

Well i was happy for a good while with these speakers,in the meantime i saw a for sale thread on here selling a Sony 700ES amplifier, with a bit of trepidation i arranged to meet the seller in Gatwick Mcdonalds car park
He also mentioned on the phone he had a rather nice AR The Turntable for sale too :eek:

Oh well he who dares and all that, the deal was done and i now had a new amp and turntable :)
it was in october 2014 to give some idea of time scale.

My first big upgrade, the Sony destroyed the Sansui amp as did the AT turntable with the Revolver, both were sold to recoup some funds :)

The AR proved to be a very good turntable,it some respects i wish i had kept it instead of getting.....hang on im jumping the gun lol
Some more fiddling/upgrading in the shape of a new tonearm an RB300.I also made a new tonearm board, the first of many for this deck in ebony and also in lacewood and both were a good upgrade over the standard mdf one.

Amazing bass response from these American beauties, there only week point was the paper tweeter,a cross between the Pageant series 2 and these would be perfect.

New tonearm,the first Mission 774!
Bought from a member in Eastbourne, only down the rod from Brighton, super condition and i couldn't wait to put it on.
Another tonearm board for the AR,i was getting good at them by now and she's up and running.

Wow the Mission 774 is a great tonearm,it easily beats the Rega RB300,i used mine at this point with a Denon DL-160. My first proper tonearm, little did i know but id have another 2 in the future.

the combination of the AR TT and 774 arm was brilliant,i look back at them with fondness,a bit like your first girlfriend i suppose??

moving on down the line,my system stayed like this for a long time, then one day it happened,it has been said before that its something you need to do,a right of passage. enter the lp12!
mine was a nice pre cirkus example with a Valhalla power supply.
timeline is 06/2015.

i tried the Mission 774 arm on the lp12 and getting it to bounce right was a nightmare, for me it seemed too light and also cable dressing was doing my head in! :steam:
something had to give and a few weeks later a second hand ittok was purchased.
