My TV just had a firmware update adding Dolby Vision to its list of tricks.
Unfortunately (at the moment) not from the Oppo but can stream DV from Netflix, and Amazon if there's any.

Anyone know what stuffs available in Dolby Vision I can stream?
Curious to see what all the fuss is about. :)

Thanks.

There's definitely some HDR content on Netflix, that's made available if you have the top account (4 screens/users?), myself and a couple of mates share an account.

If ones hardware is HDR compatible the HDR legend appears next to any selection, as opposed to 4K, assuming it's available...presumably DV will be made available in a similar way?

Check out the latest series of 'Black Mirror', it's certainly available in HDR, so worth a try for DV

Thanks Will,

Yeah, loads of HDR stuff, maybe a case of having to go through them and wait for the DV logo to show up.

The fact that you're seeing HDR logo beside the selection would imply that your kit is HDR compatible, it's a case of either HDR or DV isn't it?

E.G. My TV has netflix on board, but can only stream HDR via its HDMIs, when I browse a title via my TV I only see the 4K option, however via my HDMI sources (ChromecastUltra, or panasonic UB900) I see the HDR version where available...

Thanks for the links chaps.

Enjoyed HDR content on both my Sony TV and the Nvidia Shield box that's hooked up to my Oppo.
Can even do a search for HDR, unfortunately not for Dolby Vision.

Just curious of the difference from HDR10 now the telly can make use of DV, as its supposed to be quite a bit better.

I dont know really. Dont you all flick through it and see an endless supply of crap films?

Theres a comedy routine when flicking through it and saying no... nah... no. I cant see anything on the list above I want to watch :)

Now seeing Dolby Vision in Netflix.
Better than HDR I’m impressed.

More detail in very bright areas and better sense of depth in the picture.
Great stuff, shame my telly can only do DV from streaming and not through the Oppo, but no big loss as I cant even think of any DV enabled movies.

HDR is way more than good enough, DV is an added bonus and I quite like the Netflix lineup m’self.
Amazon Prime video is piss poor in comparison, apart from a few shows.

Choice can be a bit bewildering though!

Recent Firmware update to the Oppo to give Dolby Vision compatibility with new Sony Oled screens.
YES!

Downloaded a couple of DV demo videos and holey moley, its not half bad.
Noticably better than HDR 10, more of everything with a little extra sprinkled on top.

Curious to see what DV could be like for 4k movies, so picked up the recent 4K remaster of The Matrix, encoded with Dolby Vision.

Caught more DV stuff on Netflix as well...helluva way to enjoy telly.
