Judging by the smashed SME arm and the deck chassis around the bearing, something massive has been dropped on the poor thing.
A bid of a few quid might be worthwhile - if only for the motor.

I think probably the other way round. I reckon the weighty mass of the base/plinth caused the damage. I'd guess it toppled off whatever it was stood on and landed base upwards.

It's been stored in a barn, check out the Defender! Most likely farmer Giles was clearing out the barn and trounced it.
