The new dog keeps pulling at my nva ls1 and it's making it messy. This is mainly because it has 2 separate cables and because of it's design it bends in such a way that it is difficult to manage.

Not the best reason for lookin for new cables I admit but there we go...

I only need short lengths 2 - 2.5 meters each side...
Anyone got any thoughts on what might be suitable with my system? (and easy to manage)

How about putting what you've got into some sleeving, Hamish?

That sounds like a fairly clever idea... Where would I get such a thing?

Hi Hamish,

Why not try some Black Mambas from Dave at Green Home Electronics:

http://www.greenhomeelectronics.co.uk/

They come in just the lengths you need, are relatively inexpensive, very solid and chunky so doggie can't damage them, and sound very good too! :)

Edit: I've just seen Chris' suggestion - nice one. Try Farnell for some sheathing/sleeving.

Marco.

You can get braided sleeving from Maplin, Radio Spares, Farnell etc.
There are other types too.

You're welcome, of course!

Hamish,

You might also consider spiral cable wrapping. You can fit it without having to disconnect the speaker cables/wires. RS Components supply it, as I'm sure Farnell or Maplin do as well.

Ikea do cable tidy which would fit your cable. Come in black, silver or white and cost buttons.

Black Mambas are good though and as I said in my review a bargain at the price.

.....steady now Barry, that was a Peter Belt trick! He sold (maybe still does) 'charged' cable wraps.

The thing about the braided stuff is that it's really tough, especially if you pull it tight. It may be less susceptible to a grevious puppy assault.

LOL Wasn't that foo stuff intended to be fitted around just one wire/interconnect?

What I had in mind was using (uncharged and unpolarised) 'spirap' to bring the two separate wires together. (I assume Hamish's NVA speaker cables are two physically separate wires)

It would of course help if they are arranged to run parallel to a lay-line.

I'm sure Russ Andrews will sell stuff made from a polymer with a low dielectric absorption factor, low relative permittivity and high cost! :eyebrows:

Cheers Ali, I'm very tempted by the black mamba at the mo (did some late night Reading on here and a few othe places) it seems to tick all the boxes including the dog resistant one ... I might well hold you to the offer yet though :)

Hamish

Without wanting to come across as teaching Granny to suck on things wot comes out of a hen's rear end, can I suggest that you check carefully that the puppy hasn't pulled cables out of the back of the amp or speakers before you switch on.
I expect you do this anyway.
Your output transformers will love you for it.

Cheers chris, I have now taken ferther precautions to stop such an occurance... Coz of the cables running in front of the rack it's pretty unlikely but I hadn't thought of that so ta!

Another approch is to wipe the cables with cooking oil then roll them in dryed Thai chili powder(hottest you can find) Tears of the Dragon if you can get it there. Getting good covrage over the whole cable.
It works very well and stops cable chewing in one applacation.

The Vinyl Adventure

Yeah problem is then il start chewing the cable ...

The Vinyl Adventure

Actually, it's not the chewing that's a problem, he prefers hannah's shoes for that, it's the way he gets tangled an pull at them that's the issue

Murphy is cute for being able to move around and wag his little tail. Turning him into a certain magazine writer he would lose his charm.
