Well it's not grim up north, the sun is shining, and there's not a breath of wind. If it doesn't rain soon I'm gonna have to clean the van :(

What a difference a day makes, twenty four liddle hours...snow and strong winds this morning. No egg-rolling today, but then I've already eaten it, so things happen for a reason :)

I was hoping to get in the garden for some tidying up and tying back of bushes but it has been raining hard all night and is now dark, cold and very wet underfoot. Gardening is not happening today.

Yup here too. Out in Livingston. Miserable
Still got snow? Bloody hell... We got a light dusting on Monday, and it was gone not long after it came.
It's overcast and drizzly here just now, but looking like it'll brighten up later (as is usually the case) :)

Looks as though it could actually be a reasonable day here. It's hazy, but brightening and not cold.
Still got this easterly influence alas. Forecast always says tomorrow but tomorrow never comes

We had 30 minutes of hazy Sun but it's now back to the customary thick, black clouds and very windy.

Is this the longest Winter ever ?
Lol - sorry to hear that guys, but it's the complete opposite here in bright and SUNNY Wrexham! :D
Nicely mild too, at a current 'balmy' 14°C... Just about to cut the grass for the first time this year, then enjoy a nice boozy lunch outside on the patio. Happy days!

What about 1963? You were around then. I dodged it by not being born yet but they don't let you do that no more.
Started gorgeous here today, warm in the sunshine and not a cloud. By 1600 it was so dark it looked like dusk and then it rained and it is still raining now. And it is a bit nippy.
Can't believe the Jocks still have snow. Well I can as I was up there last year. Beautiful country (except for all the eco-crucifixes) but it was chilly even at the end of June.

Got the grass cut and had a nice lunch [salad Nicoise], outside on the patio, with a glass of vino, so it can rain now all it wants:D

Indeed... The considerable difference in temperature between Glasgow and North Wales is something I really noticed noticed when I moved, also the lack of rain and gloom here in comparison. I still love Scotland, though!:)

Raining here in sunny Portsmouth and very dull all day..and about the same tomorrow by the looks of it
I can't wait for some sun and warmth as I'm a bit of a sun-worshiper ;)
Pissing down here today in (not so sunny) Wrexham, and looks like it's on for the day, as it's rather dark and dreary...
I don't mind the occasional day like this, as it's an excuse just to hibernate, watch a couple of good movies, listen to some choons, and actually I quite enjoy walking in the rain, especially around the local park and leafy lanes, as I love the musty smell of rain in the air, the wet leaves and trees, and the sense of serenity it brings:)

Same here, but wait until next week... Summer's coming, never mind spring! You'll be able to get your mankini out:eyebrows:

cold easterly making the 5c feel like 0c at moment. weekend onwards looks a bit better as southerly winds may take over
Weather forecast tomorrow is a low of 23c and a high of 29c. Looks like I may have to keep using the air con. :)
G'day from Port Douglas Queensland.
I'll try bring some of the warmth back to the UK when I go back next week.

Walking home tonight and my breath was fogging, it was that cold. Really gloomy, too. You'd think it was Autumn except for the daffodils and that.
But heatwave forecast next week. Then you'll all be complaining it is too warm.
hifi_dave
13-04-2018, 09:31
Is that the same "heatwave" we were promised would start on Wednesday, then moved to this weekend, now possibly next week ?
All I want is some Sun. I don't mind if it's cold, I just need cheering up.
Still forcast to be starting to be a fair bit warmer up here starting tomorrow..looking initially at 12c going up to 18c by middle of week. Not much sun til thursday here alas

It's sort of turning into a nice day here. Not too much cloud, sun is out and temperature is 14C. I think it'll get warmer.
Bad storm here, lasted 2 days, just ended. Tens of thousands of people without power, trees and power lines down. About 6" of ice pellets on the ground -- looks like snow, but is texture of coarse white sugar. That is covered in a 1/2" layer of ice from the freezing rain last night. About 1600 traffic accidents over the weekend. A bit of a mess...

Grant -- Yes, crap weather indeed, for April. No one here can remember a wintry storm like this so late in the spring. April is usually wonderful here. Oh well, didn't stop us from getting out and about and enjoying the weekend.

Awesome stuff, mate. It must be an *amazing* and rather special feeling up there - total escapism! :respect::thumbsup:
We've been taking advantage of the gorgeous weather, over the last few days [far too nice to be sitting inside posting on forums], so were out all day yesterday. Got some nice new garden furniture, from here, which is well-priced, superbly made and highly recommended, for anyone who uses their garden space a lot: http://www.riverco.co.uk/tables-and-accessories.php , so have been enjoying that.
It's another scorcher today (forecast not too good for tomorrow), so we're having my dad round later instead for a nice meal, and taking advantage of the good weather. Got plenty of work to do today outside in the garden, so will have earned it! Lots of chilled Prosecco later, lol. Have a nice weekend everyone!

The weather is on the turn. It's warm and clammy and the sky is going dark. Rain soon I think.
Not here in sunny Wrexham...There's barely a cloud in the sky, with the temp currently at 23°C! just getting the table ready outside for dinner :)
Think the rain is hitting us later, around 10pm. Tomorrow will be a bit shit...

only 11c at best and been showers.. a bit overcast but not too bad
Well, not being one to brag - cough - we had a lovely afternoon today - five minutes down to the beach and then strolling along the prom from crowded end by the pier-head to the rather quieter end a little way along and a snack-n-cuppa from a favourite kiosk along the way. First time this year we've managed to do this (long story) and while we're still living here we need to do more of this kind of thing together. Amazing how we seem to take the seaside for granted when we're actually living there and it's lovely mid-week when the kids are at school and things are quieter.

Nice dining set Marco, shame about the window in the background - that 'Flemish' glass pattern is so last century, and not in a good way. Do you not know anyone who can replace it with a nice stained glass design?
Lol - don't worry, Steve, it's part of our on-going refurbishment plans! The bit you're referring to is an extension someone before us put onto the rear of the building in the 1970s, and looks like it
You can see the border between the original sandstone brick of the main house, and the roughcast on the extension....
The window with the unattractive glass and (now rotten) wood surround is part of it, which will also be getting replaced later this year, for something more in keeping with the Victorian status of the rest of the property. We've just been too busy doing other things, prioritising tasks as we go along. With old houses like this, there's always work to do!
The pic was designed to show a secluded space outdoors (completely enclosed/sheltered) we use, where we can eat/drink and entertain family and friends in privacy. It's nicer doing it there than in the open space of the front garden, and with passing oiks looking at you in envy, when you're carving the venison;)
Marco.

We were out skiing this weekend. Saturday here in Ontario (at Georgian Bay), and Sunday near Rochester, NY. It's the latest that the hills have been open since we started this sport 15 years ago, and the old-timers can't recall a later date either - remarkable!

I work in all kinds of houses, and when I first go in, I always think to myself 'could I live here?'. When it's a Victorian property the answer is always yes. They are so solidly built, and with loads of character.
There is always work to be done on them, but if renovation rather than refurbishment can be afforded, they can look stunning, and will continue to do so long after the current crop of new builds have fallen down.
On the council estate near us, putting your 3-piece suite in the front garden is the norm when the sun is shining.

Ah, do cows not like the rain, then? :)
Marco.
They dont mind sunshine and showers but this afternoons been proper miserable - like me ;)
Look out for hail and thunder later.... Save the cows!!:D
Marco.
It was jolly hot on Gozo on Monday. Coming back to a cold, wet, grey UK was a bit of a shock. The garden's looking lovely, though.
We're just in double figures here, at 10°C, and a heady 12°C is predicted for later. Currently dry and sunny, but I don't expect it to last.
Marco.

Nice. Did you bring back any Maltesers?
Marco.

Marco.
Ha. No, though a couple on the plane bag bought a large bag of Maltesers from the flight attendant. I didn't associate the confectionary with the island. Doh!
Malta's an amazing place with a fascinating history. The Maltese language is very strange; derived from Arabic but using a Latin script. Fortunately, all the road signs are in English and all the locals speak English as well as Maltese.
was cold last night and cold today again. 6c... so much for spring

Just had a torrential downpour here, similar to the one yesterday afternoon.
Even had a huge hailstorm last night (and not the sort fronted by the attractive lady, either, sadly)
It's been sunny and dry so far all day here, but also quite windy, although not too cold. Currently 15°C. Nice walking weather, which I'm just back from
Tomorrow's forecast is rain pretty much all day, so I'll take advantage of the dry weather while it's here.
Marco.
Going back to chilly next week here. 4 degrees.

Hope the weather bucks up. It's grey and gloomy, 10C and been raining on and off.
mix of sun, cloud and odd shower... currently 6c
Cold and lots of rain here, and predicted to carry on raining all day and all night too. Next week it is supposed to get colder and rainier.
I'm going to emigrate, just need to rob a bank first. No-one robs banks anymore so my thinking is that they won't be expecting it. Then it's so long, suckers. :)
Nobody robs banks now coz you get caught

Absolutely teeming down here again at the moment, and another hailstorm last night (still without sexy guitarist...)
Still fairly sunny up here. Maybe10 c now. Clouds still coming and going but mostly white ones

Not teaming down, and had no hailstorms, but it's been raining here since around 10am, which was predicted in the forecast. Tomorrow's supposed to be better:)
Marco.

Probably because it's a hailstorm not 'Halestorm'.
If Americans could spell you wouldn't be in this mess. And there would be lots of sexy female guitarists decorating your garden and driveway.

Opposite here... It's been quite nice all day, dry and sunny, occasionally clouding over, which makes it feel cooler. Currently 14°C, and hopefully nice enough to have dinner outside later. Del's doing Saltimbocca alla Romana, which we'll enjoy with a nice bottle of Barolo:

Her own recipe though, not Jamie Oliver's!:)
Marco.

It's been chilly and overcast all day. Might as well be January.
Tomorrow's forecast looks diabolical, heavy rain all day and cold!
I'm back to using my winter coat. What a crock. There was a bit of sunshine earlier but there's a real nip in the air.
I don't care. Back in work tomorrow, sealed building, air conditioned. They have these electric doors you have to swipe with a card. When they were putting them in I raised it at the meeting that if there was a power failure and the back up generator failed we would be trapped and all die of asphyxiation like at the end of Westworld. But no-one else there had ever seen Westworld so they went ahead and put the doors in.
