At usual charity shop prices JUST BUY THEM !!!
The Studio series are fine middle of the range, I'm not sure Proac ever made a bad speaker.

Buy, buy, buy. If they are still there. Nice precise imaging, good bass and mid. Can be a bit fiddly to set up right but worth it. You will need heavy speaker stands to get the best out of them.

I’ve just been reading they are fussy with amps ? One chap is useing a Quad 606 another is useing an audiolab 8000 ? The speakers didn’t have a price on but I read they were nearly £800 in 2005 !!

They'll be moderate sensitivity but an easy impedance load.
Most amps will have no problems at all.
Why aren't you outside the shop waiting for them to open?
-- that's assuming a price in the tens of £.
£100 or more and some research about the model is needed.

I was about to say the same. Just get them. Quick! Before somebody else grabs them.

Mind you, some charity shops are pretty savvy these days and they do check up on ebay.
I certainly do in my volunteer work.
Defo worth checking the asking price with them, though.

According to my brochures, the 110s are 88dB; not too bad and, as said, an easy load like any ProAc. They were a What HiFi group test winner leading up to 2009, for what that's worth. Front ported, so (somewhat) away from boundaries and require good solid stands. Amp. requ'ts are 15 to 150 W.
No idea about the 115, though. I was an aficionado of ProAcs, esp. the original Reference series (see avatar!)

Ah right - no huge bargains to be expected there. IME they do their homework and often put more expensive gear up for auction on ebay.

How's this for a charity shop bargain?
Barnardo's shop in Keswick - Led Zeppelin "Physical Graffiti". Condition: looks like it fell from a skip wagon, then reversed over a couple of times, then cleaned up with a Brillo pad.
£99 to you

On that basis, perhaps I should flog my original Zep albums? They have to be worth twice as much! :hmm:

Barry what amp do you use with them ?
Barry what amp do you use with them ?
Sonneteer Alabaster 55watts , I haven't tried them with anything else and unlikely to in the foreseeable future as its so right . The toe-in on the speakers is quite severe , the manual recommends so you cannot see either side of the speaker from the listening position , mine are 7.5 feet apart with my seat being the same distance . I took a chance with the ProAcs , couldn't really lose at the price , they retailed at £1049 and their replacements the SM100 are about £1800 I think. The ones you saw in the charity shop went very cheap , if they had of done their research perhaps they were ProAc Tabletes ?

Might be a coincidence, but I've just spotted a pair of Proac Studio 115 on Ebay, sold by British Heart Foundation Leeds. Starting price £165.
Someone at the shop probably decided they would get more in auction.

And it is a charity shops responsibility, reason to be to make money to support the charity and its work. I do sometimes see things overpriced but being honest that would still be a reasonable price.

Makes sense, who wanders around charity shops looking for high end speakers? Other than me, of course :)

Well that 3 of us then, although it seems to be just two names. Noticed that charity shops are raising prices on everything from cds up.
