Hi everyone, we're hoping this will become a weekly post. With us aiming to publish a new article every Friday or Saturday.

The idea is to give you an insight into our working week here at Fanthorpes HiFi. With what demonstrations we are doing in store and in customers’ homes, services we offer, as well as give you an insight into the distances we travel over a working week.

Monday 19th March

This week kicks off with a nice Ortofon cartridge set up. We’re traveling just south of the river Humber to Lincoln, a customer contacted us asking for our advice on a cartridge upgrade for his Project Xtension 10 turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-xtension-10-turntable/). The Xtension 10 came fitted with the 2M bronze cartridge (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/cartridge-stylus/ortofon-2m-bronze-moving-magnet-cartridge/), but he has now made the jump up to the Ortofon 2M Black (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/cartridge-stylus/ortofon-2m-black-moving-magnet-cartridge/).

Tuesday 20th March

Tuesday sees us kick thing of with another turntable install, only this one is a little further away. We’ll be heading down to Brighton on the south coast. We try our best to group jobs together that are as far away as Brighton is, so we’ve got a few jobs lined up for Tuesday.

As I mentioned before though, first up is a turntable install. This customer part exchanging their AVID Ingenium turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/avid-turntables/avid-ingenium-turntable/), beyerDynamic AKT5P headphones and Astell and Kern AK240 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/headphones/portable-players/astell-kern-ak240/) against the AVID Diva II SP turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/avid-diva-ii-sp-turntable/).

Once that is all set up, we’ll be heading to our second job in Brighton, this time a home audition. Electronics wise we’ll set up the Luxman L-590AX II Integrated (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/luxman-l-590ax-ii-amplifier/) and DA-06 DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/luxman-da-06-dac/) set up alongside the Innuos Zenith (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/) and Project Xtension 10 turntable, with the PMC Fact 12 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-12-speakers/) or Twenty5 26 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-26-speakers/) as options for speakers.

For our last installation of the day we head back up north, only slightly, to Rochester to set up a Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 800 Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-nu-vista-800-amplifier/). This big, robust integrated is being part exchanged against a Musical Fidelity A300 integrated and A3cr pre amplifier. An upgrade we’re sure our customer will love. They’ve also asked if we could bring along some demo speaker cable, which of course we said yes to.

Wednesday 21st March

With the distance travelled and work done on Tuesday we’ll set off from a local hotel. On the way back to Hull we’ll be stopping off in Romford to install another Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 800, with our customer part exchanging a Sugden Masterclass IA-4 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/sugden-masterclass-ia-4-amplifier/). Making the switch from one big integrated to another.


Thursday 22nd March

Thursday we have a couple of demos. In the morning a customer is bringing in their Cyrus Stream X Signature (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/cyrus-stream-x-signature-streamer/) for a firmware upgrade, while this is happening he’s asked to hear both the Innuos Zen Mini (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zen-mini-mkii-music-server/) and Zenith in a streamer shoot out.

Then in the afternoon we have a turntable demonstration to set up. The SME Model 15 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/sme-model-15-turntable/) is the deck under the spot light, which will be on the Luxman LX-590 integrated using with PMC Fact 12 Speakers.

Friday 23rd March

Another day on the road awaits us, with a trip down to Hanley Swan in Worcestershire on the cards. This time it’s a dual REL subwoofer install. We will be picking up two Avantgarde SUB 225 subwoofers and exchanging them for two imposing REL 212/SE Subwoofers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/subwoofers/rel-212-se-subwoofer/).

Monday 26th March
We get the working week underway with a local install in Hull. After coming in to listen to several options in our demonstration room, our customer opted for the Roksan Caspian amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/roksan-caspian-m2-amplifier/) and matching CD Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/roksan-caspian-m2-cd-player/) with KEF R700 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-r700-speakers/). He also invested in Chord Epic speaker cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/speaker-cable/chord-epic-speaker-cable/) and a Chord Epic RCA interconnect (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/audio-cables/rca-cables/chord-epic-rca-interconnect/).

Tuesday 27th March
Tuesday is a slightly different day for us. We’ve got the chaps from REL Acoustics (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/rel-subwoofers/) popping in to pay us a visit, We’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! It’s always great to see members of the industry pop in, it allows us to turn our focus to a particular brand serving as a nice refresher course and to possibly learn about any new products on the horizon.

Wednesday 28th March
Day three of our working week sees us hit the road, this time to Southport Merseyside. This person approached us looking to part exchange their ProAc D28 speakers against the Monitor Audio PL200 II (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-pl200-ii-speakers/), although they did want to hear the PL200 II before purchasing them. This isn’t a problem for us and have offered a home audition. We’ll set off Wednesday morning and look to get to Southport for around midday, then we can unbox and set up the speakers, making it a hassle free experience.

Thursday 29th March
Thursday our good friends PMC Speakers are coming to pay us a visit. As mentioned earlier its always great to see members of the industry, especially ones we work so closely with like PMC. A brew and a lowdown on all the latest PMC Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/pmc-speakers/), AVM Audio (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/avm-audio/) and Bryston (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/bryston/) is on the cards.

Friday 30th March
We’ve got a demonstration booked on Good Friday, our customer has made their mind up on what speakers they want to purchase, the Dali Epicon 2 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/dali-speakers/dali-epicon-2-speakers-en/) standmounts, but now needs to decide on want amplification to use. The demo will pit two fantastic integrated amps against each other, a choice between either the Sugden A21SE (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/sugden-a21se-signature-amplifier/) or the Musical Fidelity M6Si (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m6si-amplifier/). A demonstration we’re looking forward to hearing the results of.

Saturday 31st March
Our working week and March ends with two Hull based home auditions. First up we are setting up the Leema Agena phono stage in a customer’s house, who is looking to upgrade his phono stage.

After that we’ll move onto our second home audition which is a power amplifier shoot out. The customer currently uses PMC Twenty5 23 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/) on a full Cyrus system, but is looking to move from the X200 mono power amplifiers to either the Chord Electronics SPM1200 MKII (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/chord-electronics-spm1200-mkii-power-amplifier/) stereo power amplifier or two Bryston 7B3 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-7b3-amplifier/) mono power amps.

Tuesday 3rd April
After being closed on the Bank Holiday Monday we open on Tuesday with a speaker demonstration on the cards. This customer is looking to upgrade his speakers, looking to spend around £1000 to £1500. We’ll have a selection of speakers ready in the demo room, It’s a choice between the Monitor Audio Silver 200 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-silver-200-speakers/), Kef R500 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-r500-speakers/) or the Dali Opticon 5 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/dali-opticon-5-speakers/).

Wednesday 4th April
A marathon of a day awaits us on Wednesday. Pinner in Middlesex will be our final destination, but we’ve got to make some stops on the way first. We’ll set off from Hull early and head on out to our first install of the day in Solihull, a customer approached us asking if they could hear the Luxman L-509X amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/luxman-l-509x-amplifier/), as they are considering making the switch from a Musical Fidelity Amplifier. Since its on the way (sort of) and we can fit them in. We’ll set up the Luxman amp and leave it with our customer, so he can listen to it alongside his Musical Fidelity amp.

Once the L-509X install is all complete we’ll be heading down the motor way to Wallingford in Oxfordshire this time to install a pair of PMC Twenty5 23 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/) on a Quad Artera stereo power amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/quad-artera-stereo-power-amplifier/) and matching Artera CD pre amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/quad-artera-play-cd-pre-amplifier/). When this is all set up, we’ve had a listen with our customer and they’re happy we’ll head down to our final job of the day in Pinner, Middlesex.

Lastly we have a PMC cor amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/pmc-cor-amplifier/) to install, we’ll also be picking up this customers trade in, which consists of a Quad Elite Pre and Power Amplifier.

Thursday 5th April
We’ll set off from a local hotel on Thursday, but before we head off back to Hull we’ve got one more job to do, this time in Cheltenham. We’ll be installing a Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 800 amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-nu-vista-800-amplifier/) and matching Nu-Vista CD Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/musical-fidelity-nu-vista-cd-player/), speaker wise our customer has opted for a real store favourite the PMC Fact 12 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-12-speakers/). We’re sure this customer will love his new system.

Friday 6th April
A short trip across to Rotherham is booked in for Friday, this customer is part exchanging their Arcam AVR400 receiver against the flagship AV Receiver from Arcam the AVR850 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cinema/av-amps-receivers/arcam-avr850-av-receiver/). This receiver requires a full DIRAC set up. The overall aim on a Dirac install is to reach the situation where all speakers are working together to create a `sound field` around you, correctly recreating the movies sound effects while not making themselves noticeable.

Our fully trained installer can use DIRAC to allow this using a high quality specially calibrated microphone and the intelligent room analysis software linked to the new range of Arcam receivers. Full frequency sounds are passed into each speaker one at a time, in up to 9 positions in your room which are then picked up by the microphone and loaded into the software.

This creates accurate waveform graphs of your own rooms actual effect on your systems sound output. By using the DIRAC software, we can adjust these waveforms to more closely match the original movies own soundtrack.

The overall effect of this provides a clean, detailed sound where no one speaker is directly noticeable, and your attention is focused only on the movie.

Saturday 7th April
We wrap the week up with an install and two in store demonstrations. Our install is over in Crewe were our customer is part exchanging a Parasound A23 power amplifier and P5 Pre amplifier, we are also part exchanging a Beyerdynamic A1 headphone amp. All of this will be traded in against a vintage looking Luxman LX-380 integrated amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/luxman-lx-380-amplifier/) that retails for £5999.

As mentioned above we also have two demonstrations to set up, first up we have a chap wanting to listen to the Spendor A4 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-a4-speakers/), he is bringing in his own Arcam Amplification. In the afternoon we have a Roksan Blak demonstration, this customer wants to listen to both the Blak Amplifier ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/roksan-blak-amplifier/') and the matching Blak CD Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/roksan-blak-cd-player/) on a pair of PMC Twenty5 23 speakers.

Monday 9th April

We kick the week off with a service call just on the outskirts of Hull, we are taking a Chord Shawline analogue interconnect (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/audio-cables/rca-cables/chord-shawline-rca-interconnect/) to use in this customers system as well as to take a look at his turntable, and recommend a phono stage. We have previously set up a Sugden A21SE Integrated (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/sugden-a21se-signature-amplifier/) alongside a pair of Spendor D7 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-d7-speakers/) and a Chord 2Qute DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-electronics-2qute-dac/) to connect to the existing CD Player.


Tuesday 10th April

Tuesday, we hit the road down to Hunstanton in Norfolk, this time for a home audition. We’ll be taking the Martin Logan ESL9 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/martin-logan-classic-esl-9-speakers/) and PMC Twenty5 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-26-speakers/). These are two brands which we are passionate about and can’t wait to see who comes out on top! The customer will be listening to the ESL9 and Twenty5 26 on his existing Bryston pre power amplification.

Wednesday 11th April

We are heading just across the Humber Bridge on Wednesday on a couple of ‘local’ jobs. First up we venture down to Grimsby to visit a customer who has made the switch to the Cyrus CD Transport (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/cyrus-audio/cyrus-cd-transport/), we’re also a Chord C-Lite optical cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/streaming-cables/optical-cables/chord-c-lite-optical-cable/) to connect to his existing DAC. Next on the list is a trip to Scunthorpe to install a pair of KEF R300 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/kef-r300-speakers/), we’ll also be taking in a pair of Celestion A1 Speakers in part exchange.

Thursday 12th April

Another home audition is on the cards, this time in Hull. We are taking two preowned amplifiers for the customer to listen to, first up we have a Luxman M600A power amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/products/luxman-m-600a-power-stereo-amplifier/) to run alongside his existing pre amplifier. However, this customer is also considering trading in his existing pre power set up against our preowned McIntosh MA7200 integrated amplifier.

Friday 13th April

An unlucky day for some, but just another busy day ahead for us. This time we’ve got a home audition of a Cyrus Signature Phono Stage (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/phono-stages/cyrus-phono-signature-phono-stage/) and PSX-R2 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/mains-conditioning-units/cyrus-psx-r2-power-supply-en/). This customer is looking to upgrade his phono stage to go alongside his Rega RP10.

Saturday 14th April

For the final day of the week we head on down to Kingston Upon Thames to install a high end turntable package. We’ll be setting up an AVID Acutus SP turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/avid-acutus-sp-turntable/) complete with an SME Series V Tonearm (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/tonearms/sme-series-v-tonearm/) and Ortofon Cadenza Red cartridge (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/cartridge-stylus/ortofon-cadenza-red-moving-coil-cartridge/).

Back in Hull we have another home audition, this customer already owns PMC Twenty series and is looking to upgrade to the PMC Twenty5 series. We’re installing the PMC Twenty5 subwoofer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/subwoofers/pmc-twenty5-subwoofer/) and bringing the Twenty5 23 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/) so he can have a listen in his system too.

Monday 23rd April

Our working week gets underway with a service call to Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, this is a customer who has previously bought a pair of PMC Twenty 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty-26-speakers/) but needs a bass driver replacing. So, we’re jumping into our van, bringing the new bass driver to him and swapping the faulty one out.

Tuesday 24th April

Tuesday sees our install team split into two. First up we head just south of the River Humber to Barrow on Humber to retrieve a Project Xtension 10 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-xtension-10-turntable/) that isn’t working as it should. We are leaving our demo Xtension 10 with the customer, while his is serviced. The customer is also considering upgrading his phono stage, so we are bringing along a few options for him to listen to.

While this is going on, our other installer will be on the motorway heading down to Southgate, London to set up a fantastic streaming system. This customer has opted for the Devialet 130 Pro (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/devialet-expert-130-pro/) and Innuos Zen Mini (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zen-mini-mkii-music-server/).

Wednesday 25th April

Another day on the road awaits, this time a venture down to Ipswich to install a pair of KEF Reference One standmount speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/kef-reference-1-speakers/).

Thursday 26th April

The travelling continues for us this week, this time to a ‘local’ customer based in York. This customer owns a fantastic system already that consists of a Devialet 1000 Pro (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/devialet-1000-pro/), ProJect Signature 10 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-signature-10-turntable/) deck on a pair of Martin Logan speakers. He is looking to add a new streamer to his set up, so we are bringing along the Innuos Zenith (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/) for him to audition.

Friday 27th April

Friday, we have a big KEF Reference demo booked in. This customer called us to see if they could listen to the KEF Refence 5 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-reference-5-speakers/), on the Bryston BP26 pre (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/bryston-bp26-pre-amplifier/) and 4B3 power amp (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-4b3-amplifier/) alongside the Chord Electronics DAVE DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-dave-dac/) and Innuos Zen music server (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zen-mini-mkii-music-server/). A fantastic high end HiFi system we can’t wait to set up.

Saturday 28th April

To close the week, we have a Hull customer who would like to hear a Sugden IA-4 integrated (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/sugden-masterclass-ia-4-amplifier/), so we are popping to see him and setting the amplifier up alongside his PMC Fact 8 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-8-speakers/).

Monday 30th April
We end April off with a great HiFi installation, we’re heading just outside of Hull to set up a preowned Mesa Boogie Baron valve power amplifier we took in part exchange. This customer is adding this fantastic valve power amplifier to their existing system which consists of an Audiolab pre-amp and Thorens Turntable.

As well as purchasing the Mesa Boogie Baron, this customer has also purchased an Audiolab 8300CD (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/audiolab-8300cd-cd-player/) which is being added to their second system.

Tuesday 1st May
We start May with a visit from our good friends at Dali Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/dali-speakers/). We’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! It’s always great to see members of the industry pop in, it allows us to turn our focus to a particular brand serving as a nice refresher course and to possibly learn about any new products on the horizon.

Wednesday 2nd May
Wednesday sees us hit the road and head on down to Kettering. This customer is moving up the PMC Twenty series range. He has decided to part exchange his Twenty 24 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty-24-speakers/) which we are picking up and we’ll be dropping off his new Twenty 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty-26-speakers/). An upgrade we’re sure he will love.

Thursday 3rd May
We have a local home audition of the Innuos Zenith (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/). This customer is looking to take their first steps into the world of streaming. We’re taking the Zenith and setting it up alongside their existing equipment.

Friday 4th May
A venture just south of the River Humber is on the cards for Friday, this customer bought a pair of KEF R300 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/kef-r300-speakers/) from us recently, unfortunately he seems to be having an issue with them. We’re popping down to see him to collect the R300 speakers, we will also be loaning him our demo pair until the problem is sorted.

Tuesday 8th May

After being closed on Monday due to the bank holiday we get things underway with a trip down to Portsmouth to install a pair of Cyrus Mono Power Amplifiers into a customer’s Cyrus System. Before we reach our final destination in Portsmouth though we’ve got another two installs along the way.

First up we have an install of a PMC cor amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/pmc-cor-amplifier/) in Pinner, this customer already owns a pair of PMC Twenty 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty-26-speakers/) that will sound great with the cor amp. Once that install is all done and dusted are heading down to High Wycombe to install a pair of Neat Motive SX3 standmounts (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/neat-motive-sx3-speakers-en/) and to pick up a pair of Spednor SA1 Speakers we are taking in part exchange.

Wednesday 9th May

With our installer on the road making the trip back up north, we’ve got an Arcam integrated amplifier demonstration to set up in store. This customer is looking to pit the Arcam A39 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/arcam-a39-amplifier/) against its bigger brother the A49 Integrated (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/arcam-a49-amplifier/).

Thursday 10th May

We hit the road again, this time across the boarder to Scotland, East Lothian to be more specific, to set up an Arcam AVR850 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cinema/av-amps-receivers/arcam-avr850-av-receiver/). This receiver requires a full DIRAC set up, which is a service we are happy to offer. The overall aim on a Dirac install is to reach the situation where all speakers are working together to create a `sound field` around you, correctly recreating the movies sound effects while not making themselves noticeable.

Our fully trained installer can use DIRAC to allow this using a high quality specially calibrated microphone and the intelligent room analysis software linked to the new range of Arcam receivers. Full frequency sounds are passed into each speaker one at a time, in up to 9 positions in your room which are then picked up by the microphone and loaded into the software.

This creates accurate waveform graphs of your own rooms actual effect on your systems sound output. By using the DIRAC software, we can adjust these waveforms to more closely match the original movies own soundtrack.

The overall effect of this provides a clean, detailed sound where no one speaker is directly noticeable, and your attention is focused only on the movie. We are also picking up a Moon I3.3 Amplifier with DAC board which the customer is part exchanging against the AVR850.

Friday 11th May

It’s the Munich high end HiFi show at the weekend, so Dale and Marc will be jetting off to check out all the latest high end HiFi, we’re expecting some big news from PMC Speakers, and Chord Electronics always have something to show. We hit the road straight away with a visit down to Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. This customer is part exchanging their Linn LP-12 turntable with Linn Basik LV X tonearm, Leema Tucana II amplifier and a pair of Meridian M2 active speakers against the Bryston 4B3 power amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-4b3-amplifier/) that we are delivering.

Tuesday 15th May

Another day out, this time across Yorkshire to Bradford. We are installing a full system for our customer. Electronics wise we are installing a full Cyrus Signature set up, Mono X300 Signature power amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/cyrus-mono-x300-signature-amplifier/), DACXP Signature (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/cyrus-dac-xp-signature/) DAC and Pre amplifier and CDXT Signature CD Transport (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-transport/cyrus-cd-xt-signature-cd-transport/). All of the electronics will run into an IsoTek Evo3 Polaris (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/mains-power-products/mains-conditioning-blocks/isotek-evo3-polaris-power-block/) mains conditioning block.

Our customer has opted for the KEF Reference 1 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/kef-reference-1-speakers/) to partner his new Cyrus, for cables we are fitting Chord Epic XLR (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/audio-cables/xlr-cables/chord-epic-analogue-xlr/), Epic Digital RCA (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/streaming-cables/digital-coaxial-cables/chord-epic-digital/) and matching Epic Speaker cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/speaker-cable/chord-epic-speaker-cable/).

Wednesday 16th May

Thursday 17th May

No installations booked in for Thursday, but we still have plenty going on. First up we have a visit from our favourite French HiFi company Devialet (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/devialet/). Alex is the new man on the block at Devialet, so we'll make sure he feels welcome in our store. It’s always great to see members of the industry pop in, it allows us to turn our focus to a particular brand serving as a nice refresher course and to possibly learn about any new products on the horizon.

Next, we have an in store demo of the KEF LS50 Wireless speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/kef-speakers/kef-ls50-wireless/). It must be said Kef has done a terrific job with the LS50 wireless. They have taken the award-winning LS50s an already fantastic speaker, and added a dedicated streamer, a Bluetooth module, 24-bit/192kHz DAC, preamp and four power amplifiers with a total of 460W of output. A great proposition at £1999.

Friday 18th May

After a day in the store its straight back out on the road, this time to Hunstanton in Norfolk. A few weeks ago, we visited this customer to home audition a pair of Martin Logan ESL9 Electrostatic speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/martin-logan-classic-esl-9-speakers/). The customer loved the ESL9 and decided to part exchange his older Martin Logan CLS speakers. We left him with our demonstration pair of ESL9. Now his new speakers have arrived with us, we are going back to swap over and install his new pair of Martin Logan ESL9 Speakers.

Saturday 19th May

A home audition is booked in for Saturday, this time a local job, just on the outskirts of Hull. We are going to install the PMC Twenty5 Subwoofer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/subwoofers/pmc-twenty5-subwoofer/) in a customers existing PMC Twenty series surround sound set up.

Monday 21st May

We start the week off with an in store demonstration. The customer is looking for a new pair of speakers to partner his Naim Uniti that he is bringing along to the demo. He’s asked to hear the Quad Z2 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/quad-z2-speakers/) and PMC Twenty5 21 standmounts (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/pmc-twenty5-21-speakers/).

Tuesday 22nd May

Another day another demo, this time for a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 200 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-silver-200-speakers/). This customer is bringing in their own Cambridge Audio electronics to listen to alongside the Silver 200 speakers.

Wednesday 23rd May

We hit the road down to London on Wednesday. We’ve got two jobs lined up in the capital, first up it’s an install of a Devialet Expert 130 Pro (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/devialet-expert-130-pro/) alongside an Innuos Zen Mini (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zen-mini-mkii-music-server/). A fantastic streaming based system we’re sure our customer will love.

After we’ve completed the first install we head to Wimbledon to set up a pair of PMC Twenty5 23 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/). The customer is also part exchanging a Cyrus DAC XP which we will be collecting once the install is complete.

Thursday 24th May

A local delivery and install is on the cards on Thursday. This customer is part exchanging his Bowers and Wilkins P4 speakers against a new amplifier and speakers. Opting for the Arcam A29 Integrated (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/arcam/arcam-a29-amplifier/) and Spendor A4 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-a4-speakers/).

Friday 25th May

A huge install is on the cards on Friday. We’re heading up to Sunderland to deliver and install a pair of the hugely impressive PMC MB2 SE Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-mb2-se-speakers/). Weighing a whopping 58kg each, the MB2 SE are the the mid-sized model in the PMC SE range. The customers listening room is upstairs too, so we’ll have to make sure we’ve had our Weetabix that morning!

Hey folks, the weeks keep ticking by, with this blog post taking us up to the 2 nd of June. We’ve got a slightly shorter week in front of us, due to the bank holiday weekend, but it’s still going to be a crazy busy week!

Tuesday 29th May

After returning from a nice bank holiday weekend, we hit the road straight away with a trip to Droitwich Spa in Worcestershire to home audition a pair of PMC Twenty5 23 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/). We’ll have a new pair of Twenty5 23 speakers in the van too, just incase the customer decides he wants a pair.

Once the home audition is finished, we’ll head further south to Bristol, this time to install a pair of PMC Twenty5 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-26-speakers/).

After the miles racked up and work done on Tuesday, we’ll spend the night in a hotel.

Wednesday 30th May

As already mentioned we'll be setting off back to Hull from a hotel, but we have a stop to make on the way in Cheltenham where we are installing a Innuos Zenith (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/) server. We are also supplying a M2Tech Hiface which is a USB to coax converter, as well as a Chord Shawline digital interconnect (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/streaming-cables/digital-coaxial-cables/chord-shawline-digital-rca-interconnect/), this will allow our customer to connect the Zenith to his existing DAC.

Thursday 31st May

Thursday sees us head down to Loughborough in Leicestershire to install a full HiFi system. At the heart of the system will be the AVM Evolution CS 5.2 Streaming CD-Receiver (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/avm-audio/avm-evolution-cs-5.2-streaming-cd-receiver/) a fantastically versatile one box solution! We are also supplying the Project Xtension 10 turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-xtension-10-turntable/) equipped with an Ortofon 2m Black cartridge (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/cartridge-stylus/ortofon-2m-black-moving-magnet-cartridge/). For the speakers the customer has opted for the PMC Twenty5 23 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/), we’ll be using Chord Epic speaker cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/speaker-cable/chord-epic-speaker-cable/) to connect them to the AVM. Finally all the electronics will sit on an Atacama Evoque Eco 60-40 HiFi rack.

Friday 1st June

Back in Hull on Friday for a Turntable install. We’ll be visiting this customer to install the SME Model 10 turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/sme-model-10-turntable/) with a SME 309 tonearm (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/tonearms/sme-309-tonearm/).

Saturday 2nd June

Another local-ish job today, this time its over to Market Weighton for a home audition. This customer already owns a Sugden a21a integrated amplifier but is looking for an upgrade. We are taking two new integrated amplifiers for him to consider. Monday 11th June
We’ve got an installation to start the kick the week off, we’ll be heading to a village on the outskirts of west Hull to set up a fantastic ‘entry level’ HiFi system. Amplification wise we are supplying the Pro-Ject Maia, a great little versatile amplifier that’s includes a built in Phono stage, DAC as well as Bluetooth connectivity all for £400. The Pro-Ject Maia will be partnered with a pair of Dali Zensor 1 standmount speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/dali-zensor-1-speakers/).

After the mornings installation is complete we’ve got a in store demonstration in the afternoon. The customer already owns a Cyrus signature system and is looking to upgrade a pair of Mission 753 speakers. We’ll be demonstrating both the Spendor A6R (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-a6r-speakers/) and new Spendor A7 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-a7-speakers/) on a Cyrus Signature system.

Tuesday 12th June
Tuesday sees us hit the road down to the Capital. Our final destination is Epsom to install an Innuos Zenith SE (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-special-edition/), we’ve supplied this customer with his existing system which consists of a Chord DAVE DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-dave-dac/), Blu II CD Transport (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-transport/chord-blu-mkii-cd-transport/), Chord Electronics CPA5000 pre-amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/chord-electronics-cpa5000-reference-pre-amplifier/) and SPM1400 mono power amps (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/chord-electronics-spm-1400-mk-ii-mono-power-amplifier/), that feed into a pair of PMC Fact 12 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-12-speakers/). The Innuos Zenith SE will complete his high-end system, now allowing him to stream his music collection too.

Before we arrive in Epsom, we’ve are delivering a pair of second hand Dynaudio Focus 260 speakers in Reading.

Wednesday 13th June
After a busy day on Tuesday we’ll spend the night in a local hotel before heading to Tottenham Wednesday morning for a home demonstration. This customer already owns a pair of Bryston 7B3 amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-7b3-amplifier/) and is considering upgrading to a pair 28B3 amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-28b3-amplifier/) to partner his PMC MB2 SE (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-mb2-se-speakers/). He's also asked if we can bring along the PS Audio DirectStream DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/ps-audio-directstream-dac/) to see how it compares to his Chord DAVE DAC.

Thursday 14th June
We’re back in store Thursday after a busy two days on the road. We have an instore demo of the PMC Twenty 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty-26-speakers/) to set up. This customer already a full Cyrus signature system and is looking to a new pair of speakers to partner their electronics.

Friday 15th June
Another day in and around Hull is on the cards, this time we’ve got a local install set up. This customer has bought a streaming-based system from us which consists of the Innuos Zen MKII music server (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zen-mkii-music-server/), the Audiolab M-ONE integrated amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/products/audiolab-m-one-amplifier/) and a pair of Dali Opticon 1 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/dali-opticon-1-speakers/). Cable wise the customer has opted for Chord Sarsen speaker cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/speaker-cable/chord-sarsen-speaker-cable/) and a Chord C-USB (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/streaming-cables/usb-cables/chord-c-usb-usb-cable/).

Saturday 16th June
A trip across the Humber Bridge to Grimsby is booked in on Saturday. This is to install a pre-owned system a customer had a demonstration of last week. This customer opted for the Leema Tucana Anniversary amplifier, Moon Neo 260D CD Transport and Dali Euphonia MS4 Floorstanding speakers.

Fanthorpes HiFi At The North West Audio Show 2018.

After a successful show last year, we are making the trip across to Cranage Hall again for 2018 to exhibit at the North West Show 2018. Spread over the weekend of 23rd and 24th June, product wise we've got something of a big coup for the show, plus some special guest from several manufacturers making an appearance. Monday 25th June

We hit the road to start the week off, we’ll be heading down to Norwich to install a pair of Monitor Audio Gold 300 floorstanders (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-gold-300-speakers/). This customer is already a fan of the Monitor Audio sound. He’s making the upgrade from the Monitor Audio Silver 300 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-silver-300-speakers/) speakers to the Gold 300. Once we’ve installed his new speakers, we will also be picking up his part exchange which consists of his Silver 300 speakers, a Roksan Kandy K2 integrated amplifier and a Denon PMA1600NE integrated amplifier.

Monday also marks the last day of a recent Devialet promotion. Our install which is lined up for Tuesday, sees us head on down to Axeminster in Devon to install a pair of preowned PMC Twenty5 26 speakers.

We also have an in store demonstration booked in for Tuesday, this extensive demo sees us pit several products against one another, first up it’s the PMC Twenty 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty-26-speakers/) versus the newer Twenty5 26 floorstanders (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-26-speakers/). Wednesday 27th June

Another day on the road awaits. Two installations are on the card for Wednesday, first up we are heading down to Basingstoke to set up the KEF Reference 3 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-reference-3-speakers-en/) for a home audition. We’ll be setting the Reference 3’s on the customers existing Chord Electronics amplification.

After the home audition we are heading to Somerton in Somerset to install a pair of PMC Twenty5 23 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/). We are also supplying the customer with some Chord Epic speaker cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/speaker-cable/chord-epic-speaker-cable/) to connect to his Cyrus amplification.

Hey everyone, its our weekly update again to let you all know what’s happening next week. We’ve got a couple of free days in the diary coming up, but that’s not to say you all cant fill them up! It’s still an exciting week with a few install booked in, we even brave the high seas for one of them!

The idea is to give you an insight into our working week here at Fanthorpes HiFi. With what demonstrations we are doing in store and in customers’ homes, services we offer, as well as give you an insight into the distances we travel over a working week.

Monday 2nd June

We have a local install booked in for Monday. We are installing a Townshend Allegri + Passive Pre Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/townshend-allegri-passive-pre-amplifier/) to set up alongside a customers existing HiFi. The Allegri + Pre will go alongside a Bryston 4B3 power amp (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-4b3-amplifier/) and a pair of PMC Fact 12 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-12-speakers/).

Tuesday 3rd June

We have an install of epic proportions on Tuesday. We are setting off bright and early to head down to the Isle of White. A regular customer of ours is adding a high end pre amplifier to his already amazing set up, which consists of PMC Fact 12 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-12-speakers/) and Bryston 28B3 Mono Power Amps (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-28b3-amplifier/). Once his new Pre Amplifier has been installed, we will be taking a Pro-Ject Xtnesion 12, Ortofon Cadenza Blue and Bryston BP26 with Phono card in part exchange.

Wednesday 4th June

We are making the long trip back to Hull on Wednesday.

Monday 30th July

We start the week with an instore demo. This customer is looking to purchase some new speakers for his Devialet 1000 Pro (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/devialet-1000-pro/) and has expressed some interest in the PMC IB2SE (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-ib2-se-speakers/). This is a fantastic high end demo to start the week off, and we can’t wait to set it up. We will also be using the Innuos Zenith (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/) streamer as the source and Chord Signature (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/?features_hash=5-5636) cabling throughout.

Tuesday 31st July

This is an important day for anyone looking to purchase any PMC Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/pmc-speakers/) in the near future. Unfortunately, due to rising prices in costs of materials and manufacturing PMC are having to rise some of their prices from August 1 st, please feel free to get in touch to discuss how certain products are affected.

A home audition is booked in on Tuesday. We are North West over to Warrington to leave a pair of Bryston 28B3 power amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-28b3-amplifier/) with a customer. This person is looking to make the switch from their existing Mark Levinson mono power amplifiers.

Wednesday 1st August

We have a midweek demonstration on Wednesday. This customer is looking for a vinyl based system around for five to six thousand pounds, with that in mind we will have a system set up and waiting which will consists of Roksan Caspian M2 Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/roksan-caspian-m2-amplifier/), ProJect 2 Xperience SB DC Turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-2-xperience-sb-dc-turntable/) and Dali Rubicon 5 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/dali-rubicon-5-speakers/). Another instore demonstration is on the cards for Thursday, this time is a comparison of two phono stages. Friday 3rd August

A trip over to Leeds is booked in for Friday. This customer approached us looking for a new pair of speakers for his existing Cyrus Signature system, after discussing a few options he opted for the Spendor D7 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-d7-speakers/). So we are heading over to West Yorkshire to install his new speakers for him.

Saturday 4th August

To finish the week, we have a super busy day! Two installations and an instore demo are on the cards. Our first installation is of an AVID DIVA II SP (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/avid-diva-ii-sp-turntable/), Project tonearm and AVID cover down in Wimbledon. Once the new AVID turntable is all set up we will be taking a Michell Techno turntable as part exchange. The second job of the day sees us head to Horley in Surry to install a pair of PMC Twenty5 23 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/), as well as collect a pair of Rogers LS4A speakers, Marantz CD65 MK2 and Marantz PM45 in part exchange.

Back in Hull, the in store demonstration is for two pairs of speakers. We are pitting the Spendor D7 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-d7-speakers/) against the PMC Twenty 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty-26-speakers/), the customer is already a Cyrus owner so we will have all of this waiting alongside a Cyrus CD Transport (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/cyrus-audio/cyrus-cd-transport/), Pre2 DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/cyrus-pre2-dac/) and X Power (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/cyrus-x-power-amplifier/).

Monday 20th August

We kick things off with an instore demo. This customer already owns a Leema Tucana Anniversary Integrated Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/leema-tucana-anniversary-amplifier/), Chord Hugo TT DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-electronics-hugo-tt-dac/) and an Innuos Zenith (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/) streamer and is looking to upgrade his speakers. Another in store demonstration is booked in for Tuesday. This customer is looking to purchase a whole new system tailored around vinyl.

For the Integrated amplifier options, we will have the Sugden A21SE Signature (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/sugden-a21se-signature-amplifier/) next to the Roksan Blak (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/roksan-blak-amplifier/), and for the speakers we will have the Spendor A7 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-a7-speakers/) and the PMC Twenty5 23 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/) ready and waiting. The system will be connected using Chord Epic cables (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/?features_hash=5-5633) throughout.

Wednesday 22nd August

We're heading north of the boarder up to Taynuilt in Scotland on Wednesday to install a pair of speakers for a customer. They have opted for the PMC Twenty5 23 floorstanders and are trading in their old PMC GB1i.

Thursday 23rd August

A midweek trip across to Barnsley West Yorkshire is on the cards. This customer is interested in purchasing an Arcam AVR550 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cinema/av-amps-receivers/arcam-avr550-av-receiver/), so we are taking out one to him for a home audition. This receiver requires a full DIRAC set up. The overall aim on a Dirac install is to reach the situation where all speakers are working together to create a `sound field` around you, correctly recreating the movies sound effects while not making themselves noticeable.

Our fully trained installer can use DIRAC to allow this using a high quality specially calibrated microphone and the intelligent room analysis software linked to the new range of Arcam receivers. Full frequency sounds are passed into each speaker one at a time, in up to 9 positions in your room which are then picked up by the microphone and loaded into the software.

This creates accurate waveform graphs of your own rooms actual effect on your systems sound output. By using the DIRAC software, we can adjust these waveforms to more closely match the original movies own soundtrack.

The overall effect of this provides a clean, detailed sound where no one speaker is directly noticeable, and your attention is focused only on the movie.

Friday 24th August

On Friday we have a local customer who is upgrading their AV Receiver and has opted for the Arcam AVR550 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cinema/av-amps-receivers/arcam-avr550-av-receiver/). Again, this receiver requires a full DIRAC set up, which our installer will take care of. Making sure the customer gets the best performance out of their new Arcam AV Receiver.

We are also expecting a visit off Kieran from Henley Audio. We’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! It’s always great to see members of the industry pop in, it allows us to turn our focus to a particular brand serving as a nice refresher course and to possibly learn about any new products on the horizon.

Saturday 25th August

A trip across the M62 is on the cards to finish the week. We’re heading over to Wigan to install a Luxaman L-507UX ii Integrated Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/luxman-l-507ux-mkii-integrated-amplifier/). Once the customers new amplifier is installed and our customer is happy we are bringing back a Leema Tucana II amplifier, Naim CD5 XS, NAIM HI-CAP and Rothwell Rialto MM/MC Phono Stage in part exchange.

Thursday 30th August

Another Hull based install is on the cards for Thursday, this time we are installing a vinyl orientated system for a customer. They have opted for the Pro-ject Xpression Carbon (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-1xpression-carbon-turntable/) turntable alongside the versatile Cyrus One Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/cyrus-one-amplifier/) and the Monitor Audio Silver 50 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/monitor-audio-silver-50-speakers/). This is a fantastic system that offers real bang for your buck.

Friday 31st August

We’re heading across to Wales on Friday for two visits to customers, our first stop is in Kilgeddin to set up a pair of Bryston 28B3 power amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-28b3-amplifier/) for a customer on home demonstration. They already own a great high end system that comprises of AVID Sequel SP turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/avid-sequel-sp-turntable/) with a SME 309 tonearm (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/tonearms/sme-309-tonearm/) and Cadenza Red cartridge (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/cartridge-stylus/ortofon-cadenza-red-moving-coil-cartridge/), Innuos Zenith (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/) streamer, Audio Research Reference 6 Pre Amplifier and KEF Blade 2 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-blade-2-speakers/). This customer currently uses Bryston 7B3 mono power amps (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-7b3-amplifier/) but is considering making the switch to the 28B3 amplifiers.

After the Bryston 28B3 install, we’re heading over to Monmouth to set up a pair of PMC IB2 SE speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-ib2-se-speakers/) for a customer, they are making upgrading from the PMC Twenty 26 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty-26-speakers/) which we are taking in part exchange.

Saturday 1st September

Due to the miles racked up and work done on Friday our install team will set off from a local hotel and head on back to Hull.

Back in the shop we have a demonstration booked in, the customer already owns a Stemfoort SF-200 integrated amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/stemfoort-sf-200-amplifier/) and is looking for a new set of speakers to partner his amplifier. Project Turntable Experience At Fanthorpes HiFi Saturday 15th September

Hi everyone, just a gentle reminder that our Project Experience event is this Saturday (15th September). This is an event we are really looking forward to hosting, with plenty of people taking an interest and demo slots filling up fast.

This event has been designed with all budgets and systems in mind. So, if you are just starting out on your vinyl journey or are an existing turntable enthusiast, it doesn't matter, we're sure you will benefit from attending.

How Will It Work?

The event will focus on four keys areas of turntable design, the arm, cartridge, plinth and platter to explore how differences and improvements in these areas can change and improve the sonic characteristics.

As a reference point, we will start with a Debut Carbon (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-debut-carbon-turntable/), analysing the differences within the Xpression (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/project-turntables/?features_hash=5-49077), Xperience (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/project-turntables/?features_hash=5-49079) and the Xtension (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/project-turntables/?features_hash=5-49078) turntable series, plus a selection of Ortofon Cartridges (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/ortofon/), before finishing with the demonstration Limited Edition Classic VPO turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-classic-vpo-turntable/).

The demonstrations will be hosted by Kieran Pickaver of Henley Audio, he will be on hand to answer any questions and to explain the differences between each turntable. This is a great chance to hear and learn what design and component changes can bring to the sound of a turntable.

All the turntables will use the same ancillary equipment - we will have on demo the Project Tube Box DS2 Phono Stage (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/phono-stages/project-tube-box-ds2-phono-stage/), connected into Luxman (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/luxman/) Amplification, which will be running a pair of Klipsch Forte Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/klipsch-forte-iii-speakers/).

Monday 17th September

We start the week off with a fantastic turntable install all the way down in Surrey, this customer is making the step up from the SME Model 20/2 turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/sme-model-20-3-turntable/) up to the SME Model 30/2 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/sme-model-30-2-turntable/). An upgrade we are sure he’ll love, and we’re glad to help with. We will also be installing a new phono stage alongside the SME, which is the Luxman EQ-500 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/phono-stages/luxman-eq-500-phono-stage/).

Once this install is complete, we have another installation in Surrey to head to. We will be in Godalming setting up a Chord BLU MK II CD Transport (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-transport/chord-blu-mkii-cd-transport/) alongside our customers’ existing Chord DAVE DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-dave-dac/). Both pieces of Chord Electronics will be connected via dual Chord Music Digital BNC Interconnects (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/streaming-cables/digital-coaxial-cables/chord-music-digital-rca-interconnect/), so he can get the best out of the BLU MKII upscaling technology.

Tuesday 18th September

Our work in the south of England isn’t complete yet! We will set off from a local hotel Tuesday morning and head down to London, this time to install another high-end turntable. This customer is making the switch from the Michell Gyrodeck to the monumental AVID Acutus Reference SP Turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/avid-acutus-reference-sp-turntable/).

Wednesday 19th September

We’re back in the north of England on Wednesday as we head over to Leeds to set up a new streaming solution for a customer. We’ll be installing an Innuos Zenith (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/) alongside the Luxman DA-06 DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/luxman-da-06-dac/), they will be connected via the Chord C-Line USB cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/streaming-cables/usb-cables/chord-c-usb-usb-cable/).

We have a mid-week trip to the North East to visit a regular customer of ours. He already owns an impressive system which consists of Martin Logan ESL 13A Electrostatic speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/martin-logan-expression-esl-13a-speakers/) and Chord DAVE DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-dave-dac/). He is considering making the switch from his existing Chord SPM1050MkII power amp (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/chord-electronics-spm1050mkii-power-amplifier/) to the SPM 1400 MK II Mono Power Amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/chord-electronics-spm-1400-mk-ii-mono-power-amplifier/) from Chord Electronics. After listening to the power amps in our demo room a few weeks ago, he requested a home audition which we are more than happy to do.

We are heading to Cheshire to set up a full Monitor Audio Platinum surround sound system that comprises of PL300 II Floorstanders (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-pl300-ii-speakers/), PL100 II Standmounts (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/monitor-audio-pl100-ii-speakers/) with matching stands, PLC350 II centre channel (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/centre-speakers/monitor-audio-plc350-ii-centre-speaker/) and matching stand and the PLW215 Subwoofer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/subwoofers/monitor-audio-plw215-ii-subwoofer/). These speakers will be hooked up to the Pioneer SCLX901 Receiver.

Hi everyone, We are hosting Leema Acoustics on Saturday October 13th, this is a fantastic opportunity to hear a selection of Leema amplifiers in a back to back demonstration format. This is an event we are really looking forward to hosting, with plenty of people taking an interest already.

How Will It Work?
The event will focus around the Leema acoustics range of amplifiers.

As a reference point, we will start with the entry level Leema Elements Integrated, analysing the differences within the Tucana (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/leema-tucana-ii-amplifier/) and Tucana Anniversary (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/leema-tucana-anniversary-amplifier/) integrated amplifier series, before finishing with a demonstration of the reference Leema Pyxis Pre Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/leema-pyxis-pre-amplifier/) and Hydra II Power Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/leema-hydra-ii-power-amplifier/).

The demonstrations will be hosted by Mick Neil and Andy Moore of MIAN Audio, they will be on hand to answer any questions about the brand and to explain the differences between each amplifier. This is a great chance to hear and learn what design and component changes can bring to the sound of an amplifier.

All the amplifiers will use the same ancillary equipment - we will have on demo the Leema Sirius Streamer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/leema-sirius-music-server/), and will be running a pair of Brigadier Mu.2 Speakers (http://www.brigadiers.audio/one-audio), all the equipment will be connected using Atlas Cables (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/atlas-cables/).

Monday 29th October

We kick start the week of with a great little HiFi install, we’re heading down to Lincoln to set up a pair of Neat Motive SX3 Standmount speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/neat-motive-sx3-speakers-en/), that will sit on a pair of HiFi Racks Duet speaker stands, these will be hooked up to a Cyrus One integrated amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/cyrus-one-amplifier/). Once the customers new HiFi is installed we are taking an Onkyo 9010 amplifier and Q Acoustic 3050 speakers in part exchange.

Tuesday 30th October

An instore demonstration is booked in for Tuesday, this customer is on the look out for a new set of speakers, he currently owns a pair of Linn AV 5140 floorstanders and is interested in the PMC Twenty5 23 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/) and Twenty5 24 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-24-speakers/). The customer is bringing his own tracks on a USB drive that we will upload to our Innuos Zenith server (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/), this will be hooked up to the Chord Electronics Hugo TT (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-electronics-hugo-tt-dac/) and Chord Electronics Amplification.

Wednesday 31st October

Wednesday is a slightly different day for us. We’ve got the chaps from SME (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/sme/) popping in to pay us a visit, We’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! It’s always great to see members of the industry pop in, it allows us to turn our focus to a particular brand serving as a nice refresher course and to possibly learn about any new products on the horizon.

Thursday 1st November

We have a fantastic Chord Electronics demo booked in for Thursday. Already a current Chord Electronics owner, this customer is looking to make an upgrade on his amplification. We will have the Chord CPA5000 Preamp (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/chord-electronics-cpa5000-reference-pre-amplifier/) set up alongside the SPM1400 MKII Mono Power Amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/chord-electronics-spm-1400-mk-ii-mono-power-amplifier/), for the front end of the system we will have the Chord Blu CD Transport (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-transport/chord-blu-mkii-cd-transport/) running into the DAVE DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-dave-dac/). This customer already owns a pair of Dali Epicon 6 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/dali-epicon-6-speakers-en/), so we will have these running on a pair of Townshend Isolation Podiums (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/hi-fi-stands/townshend-seismic-isolation-podium/). Finally, all the equipment will be connected up with Chord Signature cables (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/?features_hash=5-5636).

Friday 2nd November

We’re heading over to York for a home audition of Friday. This customer owns a Devialet 1000 Pro (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/devialet-1000-pro/), Martin Logan Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/martin-logan/) and a Pro-ject Signature 10 turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-signature-10-turntable/). He is looking to make a change from his current deck and is considering the Luxman PD171a (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/luxman-pd-171a-turntable/). While we are at his house auditioning the turntable, we will also upgrade the firmware in his 1000 Pro.

Hey folks, just though we'd share a quick little snap of a great install we did in the Welsh valleys earlier this week.

We set up a pair of PMC IB2 SE speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-ib2-se-speakers/) with IsoAcoustics Gaia II Isolation Feet (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/isoacoustics-gaia-ii-isolation-feet/).

The speakers sounded superb straight out the box, and was a great combination with the Devialet and Innuos electronics.

We hit the road again on Wednesday, this time up to Durham to set up a customers new system. We’ll be installing a pair of Spendor A4 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-a4-speakers/) alongside the Musical Fidelity M6Si integrated amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m6si-amplifier/). The speakers and amplifier will be connected via Chord Rumour 2 speaker cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/speaker-cable/chord-rumour-2-speaker-cable/).

However, he is looking to make a change from his current floorstanders and is considering the Spendor D9 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-d9-speakers/) as well as the PMC Fact 12 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-12-speakers/).

Saturday 24th November

We wrap the week up with a fantastic PMC Speakers install. We’re heading down to Peterborough to set up a pair of the PMC IB2 SE speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-ib2-se-speakers/). The IB2 SE will be set up on a high end Linn system.

Monday 10th December

We’ll actually be starting our working week on Sunday 9th, we’ve got a big drive ahead of us to Stirling to install a pair of £45,000 PMC Fact Fenestria Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-fenestria-speakers/). Needless to say, we are stoked to set these speakers up.

We initially visited this customer earlier in the year, so he could listen to a demo pair of Fenestrias in his own system.

The customers new speakers will be used alongside his existing Chord Electronics system which comprises of a Chord DAVE DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-dave-dac/), CPA 5000 Pre amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/chord-electronics-cpa5000-reference-pre-amplifier/) and SPM 1400 mono power amps (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/chord-electronics-spm-1400-mk-ii-mono-power-amplifier/).

Friday 14th December

An instore demonstration is booked in for Friday, this customer is wanting a system based around a turntable and has expressed an interest in either Chord Electronics or Luxman amplification. Monday 14th January

We start the week off with a fantastic in-store demonstration. The customer is looking for a pair of new floorstanding speakers and is undecided between the Martin Logan Electromotion ESL X (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/martin-logan-electromotion-esl-x-speakers/) and PMC Twenty5 26 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-26-speakers/), we will have both these speakers set up alongside the Luxman L-590AX II Amp (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/luxman-l-590ax-ii-amplifier/), Luxman D-06u SACD Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/luxman-d-06u-sacd-player/) and Innuos Zenith MKII streamer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-mkii-music-server/).

Plus, in the afternoon we’ve got the chaps from Padood popping in to pay us a visit, We’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! It’s always great to see members of the industry pop in, it allows us to turn our focus to a particular brand serving as a nice refresher course and to possibly learn about any new products on the horizon.

Tuesday 15th January

We have an early start on Tuesday as we head off to south Wales to install a pair of Bryston 28B3 Mono Power Amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-28b3-amplifier/). This customer is upgrading from a pair of 7B3 monos (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-7b3-amplifier/), that we are taking in part exchange, as well as a Bryston BDA-3 DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/bryston-bda-3-dac/). He will be running the 28B3 on a pair of KEF Blade 2 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-blade-2-speakers/). This is an upgrade we can’t wait to install!

Wednesday 16th January

After the miles racked up on Tuesday we are staying over in a local Hotel, but before we set off back to Hull we have one more install on the cards. Wednesday sees us head to Llanelli to install a pair of PMC Twenty5 23 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/), this customer is upgrading from Monitor Audio Gold 300 speakers, this is an upgrade we are sure he will love.

Monday 21st January

An early start to kick the week off, on Monday our final destination is Epsom to install an Innuos Zenith Statement (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zenith-statement-music-server/) for a good customer of ours. He already owns PMC Fact 12 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-12-speakers/), Chord Electronics CPA3000, SPM 1400 Mono power amps (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/chord-electronics-spm-1400-mk-ii-mono-power-amplifier/), Chord DAVE (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-dave-dac/) and Blu MK2 CD Transport (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-transport/chord-blu-mkii-cd-transport/). All this kit is connected using Chord Signature Reference cables (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/?features_hash=5-5636). The Innuos Statement will finish off the digital side to his system, with us taking a Zenith SE in part exchange.

Tuesday 22nd January

We’ll be setting off from a local hotel on Tuesday but before we head off back to Hull we’ve got a few more installs to take care off. We’re heading further south to Worthing to set up a Project Xtension 9 turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-xtension-9-turntable/) and a pair of Spendor D9 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/spendor-d9-speakers/), once the turntable and speakers are set up we are taking a pair of KEF R700 and Rega RP3 turntable in part exchange.

After Tuesdays first install we are stopping off in Basingstoke to install a Bryston BDP3 Digital Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/bryston-bdp-3-digital-player/) before heading back up north to Hull.

Wednesday 23rd January

A ‘local’ install is booked in for Wednesday, we are heading over to Bradford for a superb CD Player install, this customer is trading in their PS Audio Direct Stream Junior (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/ps-audio-directstream-junior-dac/) for a Luxman D-08U CD Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/luxman-d-08u-sacd-player/). A cd upgrade we’re sure they’ll be thrilled with.

Plus, in the afternoon we’ve got the chaps from Arcam popping in to pay us a visit, We’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! It’s always great to see members of the industry pop in, it allows us to turn our focus to a particular brand serving as a nice refresher course and to possibly learn about any new products on the horizon.

Thursday 24th January

We have two in-store demonstrations booked in for Thursday, in the morning it is a demonstration of the diminutive and versatile PS Audio Sprout amp (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/ps-audio-sprout-amplifier/) that will be used alongside the Innuos Zen Mini MK3 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/music-streamers/innuos-zen-mini-mk3-music-server/) and Project 1 Xpression Carbon Turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-1xpression-carbon-turntable/). A great combination if we do say so ourselves.

In-between demos we’ve also got our good friends Henley Audio paying us a visit, we’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! We have a Luxman demonstration booked in for Thursday. Saturday 2nd February

To end the week, we are heading down to Sutton-In-Ashfield, a customer approached us asking for a home demonstration of the Musical Fidelity M8 PRE (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m8-pre-amplifier/) and matching M8700 Mono power amps (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m8-700m-power-amplifier/). Of course, we we’re happy to oblige. Already an owner of the Monitor Audio PL300II Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-pl300-ii-speakers/), we can’t wait to see what the Musical Fidelity M8 series can bring to his system.

We also have an in-store demonstration booked in on Saturday, this customer is bringing in his own Krell electronics to listen to and is interested in a pair of new speakers we will have the PMC Twenty5 23 speakers and Neat Iota Xplorers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/neat-iota-xplorer-speakers/), alongside a few more options ready and waiting.

Monday 11th February

We have an early start to the week as we head on down to St Leonards-on-sea to install a turntable. This customer has purchased the Luxman PD-171A (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/luxman-pd-171a-turntable/) with and SME Series V Tonearm (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/tonearms/sme-series-v-tonearm/) and Ortofon Cadenza Black cartridge (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/cartridge-stylus/ortofon-cadenza-black-moving-coil-cartridge/). Once his new deck is all set up, we are taking his old Clear Audio Reference Turntable and Basis Vector 2 tonearm in part exchange.

Tuesday 12th February

We have a chock a block Tuesday to look forward to! We’ll have an instore demo booked in of the Cyrus 82 DAC QX (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/cyrus-82-dac-qx/) and CD Transport (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/cyrus-audio/cyrus-cd-transport/) alongside a selection of speakers including the new KEF R3 Standmounts (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/kef-r3-speakers/) as well as PMC Twenty 22 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/pmc-twenty-22-speakers/).

While this is going on in store our install team are heading out for two installations, first up is a Project 2Xperience SB Turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-2-xperience-sb-dc-turntable/) and Ortofon Quintet Bronze cartridge (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/cartridge-stylus/ortofon-quintet-bronze-cartridge/) install in Sutton Coldfield with us taking a Chord Hugo 2 in part exchange. Then its onto Birmingham to set up a pair of KEF Reference 3 floorstanders (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-reference-3-speakers-en/).

Wednesday 13th February

We have a midweek trip booked in over in Liverpool for a home audition of some Bryston amplification. This customer currently owns the Trilogy 909 Pre & 990 power amps but is interested in upgrading to the Bryston BP26 Pre amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/bryston-bp26-pre-amplifier/) and 4B3 Power (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-4b3-amplifier/). This is an amplifier shoot out we are really looking forward to.

That’s not all we have to look forward to on Wednesday though, as we are also heading over to Blackpool to install a pair of PMC Fact 12 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-12-speakers/), with this customer trading in their pair of PMC GB1i, this is an upgrade we are sure they will love. We are also taking across a run of Chord Signature Speaker cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/speaker-cable/chord-signature-reference-speaker-cable/) for the customer to try out.

Thursday 14th February

A local install is on the card for Thursday, as we travel up the east coast to install some Quad electronics and speakers. After visting us for a demo a few weeks ago, this customer opted to purchase the Quad Artera Play+ CD Pre (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/quad-artera-play-plus-cd-pre-amplifier/) and matching Artera stereo power amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/quad-artera-stereo-power-amplifier/) as well as the impressive Quad Z3 Floorstanding speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/quad-z3-speakers/).

Friday 15th February

We are heading back across to Liverpool for the second time this week, this time to install a pair of Monitor Audio PL300II Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-pl300-ii-speakers/). We will also be taking a pair of Usher Mini 2 speakers in part exchange.

Tuesday 12th March

We are taking a trip down to Solihull to install a pair of PMC Twenty5 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-26-speakers/). These speakers are a real store favourite, this is an upgrade we are sure he will love.

We also have another install in the Birmingham area, this time to install a Chord Electronics Symphonic (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/chord-electronics/chord-electronics-symphonic-phono-stage/), once the new phono stage is set up, we will be taking a Lehmann Black Cube Statement in part exchange.

Wednesday 13th March

We are heading north of the boarder on Wednesday up to Edinburgh to install our second pair of PMC Twenty5 26 speaker of the week.

HiFi Plus Magazine Twenty5 26 Review:

The biggest model in the twenty5 series retains the timing brilliance of the twenty5.22 that I reviewed earlier, but adds bandwidth, dynamic capability and resolution, not to mention power handling to the mix. It is a consistently revealing and musically engaging loudspeaker that makes certain well-regarded competitors seem incoherent and coloured. In other words it’s really rather good indeed. Highly recommended!

Thursday 14th March

A ‘local’ install is on the cards for us on Thursday, as we travel over to Huddersfield in west Yorkshire to install a pre owned Chord Electronics Red Reference MK3 CD Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/chord-electronics-red-reference-mk-iii-cd-player/). We are taking a number of items against the Red Reference such as Roksan K3 DAC, cyrus cd cdxt se2, vpi prime turntable, van den hull ddt-2 cartridge and musical fidelity mx vinyl.

We’ll set off from a local hotel on Saturday, but before we head off back up to Hull, we have got a few more installs to take care of. First up is a delivery of a pair of PMC Twenty5 26 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-26-speakers/), once we’ve dropped the speakers off, we have an install of an Innuos Statement and collection of an Audio Research Reference 6 Preamplifier.

Monday 8th April

We start our week off with a monumental drive down to Plymouth. We are visiting the south west coast to install a pair of Martin Logan ESL11a speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/martin-logan-impression-esl-11a-speakers/). Once the Martin Logans are positioned correctly and set up using the Anthem ARC technology, we are collecting a pair of Eggleston Works Andra 111 SE speakers in part exchange. A heavy pair of speakers, weighing in at 80kgs each, we’ll have to make sure we’ve had out Weetabix!

We also have a drop off on the way down to Plymouth, we are stopping off at Exeter to deliver a pair of PMC Twenty 26 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty-26-speakers/).

Tuesday 9th April

Our install team will set off on Tuesday from a local hotel and make the trip back up north to Hull.

Wednesday 10th April

We have an instore demonstration booked in for a midweek. A fantastic demo indeed!

Wednesday afternoon we have a local install of the new Ruark R5 music system (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/singlebox-systems/ruark-r5-music-system/) and a pair of Sennheiser HD630VB (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/headphones/over-ear-headphones/sennheiser-hd-630vb-headphones/).

Thursday 11th April

Wednesday 12th June

A busy day awaits us on Wednesday!

We have two vans out on the road on Tuesday. One van will be driving down to Pembrokeshire to drop off a pair of PMC Twenty5 26 in Amarone (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty526-amarone/) and collecting a pair of Twenty 26 in part exchange.

Our second van is heading just south of the river Humber as we take a visit to Immingham to install a tasty little system. This customer already owned a Rega turntable and was looking to build a system around this. After an in-store demo, he decided on the Cyrus One HD amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/cyrus-one-hd-amplifier/), Innuos Zen Mini MK3 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-zen-mini-mk3-music-server/) and Neat SX1 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/neat-acoustics/neat-motive-sx1-speakers/).

After our install in Immingham we are heading to North Thorsby to set up a pair of Martin Logan ESL 13A electrostatics (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/martin-logan-expression-esl-13a-speakers/) for a home audition.

Back in the shop we are expecting a visit from our Anthem AV (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/anthem-av-receivers/) rep. We’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! It’s always great to see members of the industry pop in, it allows us to turn our focus to a particular brand serving as a nice refresher course and to possibly learn about any new products on the horizon.

Thursday 13th June

Our day revolves around Klipsch Speakers on Thursday. These horn loaded speakers are becoming an increasing popular brand in our shop. First up we are heading down to Fareham to set up a pair of Klipsch Cornwall III (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/klipsch-cornwall-iii-speakers/) for a customer.

Once the Cornwalls are installed we a heading across the south coast to Worthing to install a pair of Klipsch Forte III (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/klipsch-forte-iii-speakers/), and collecting a pair of KEF R500 in part exchange.

Friday 14th June

An instore demonstration is booked in Friday. This customer is looking for a new amplifier and CD Player and has expressed an interest in the Musical Fidelity M6 range. We’ll have the M6Si amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m6si-amplifier/) set up alongside the matching M6SCD (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/musical-fidelity-m6scd-cd-player/), plus the Roksan Blak amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/roksan-blak-amplifier/) and Blak CD Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/roksan-blak-cd-player/) for comparison.

He is also considering upgrading from his existing B&W floorstanders, so we will set up a few speaker options such as the Dali Rubicon 5 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/dali-rubicon-5-speakers/) and Klipsch Forte III.

Saturday 15th June

We end the week with two demos booked in. Our afternoon demonstration is of some standmount speakers. This customer already owns a pair of PMC GB1, and is looking to downsize. After a successful show last year, we are making the trip across to Cranage Hall again for 2019 to exhibit at the North West Show (http://audioshow.co.uk/). Spread over the weekend of 29th and 30th June, product wise we've got something of a big coup for the show, plus interesting listening sessions, and some special guest from several manufacturers making an appearance. The idea is to give you an insight into our working week here at Fanthorpes HiFi. With what demonstrations we are doing in store and in customers’ homes, services we offer, as well as give you an insight into the distances we travel over a working week.

Monday 17th June

We start the week off with a trip up to North Yorkshire to install a fantastic AV set up. We will be installing the Arcam AVR550 Receiver (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cinema/av-amps-receivers/arcam-avr550-av-receiver/) on a full KEF R Series surround package (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/kef-speakers/?features_hash=5-5505). This is a system we are sure our customer will love.

For those that didn’t know to get the best performance from the AVR550, it requires a full DIRAC set up. The overall aim on a Dirac install is to reach the situation where all speakers are working together to create a `sound field` around you, correctly recreating the movies sound effects while not making themselves noticeable.

Our fully trained installer can use DIRAC to allow this using a high quality specially calibrated microphone and the intelligent room analysis software linked to the new range of Arcam receivers. Full frequency sounds are passed into each speaker one at a time, in up to 9 positions in your room which are then picked up by the microphone and loaded into the software.

This creates accurate waveform graphs of your own rooms actual effect on your systems sound output. By using the DIRAC software, we can adjust these waveforms to more closely match the original movies own soundtrack.

The overall effect of this provides a clean, detailed sound where no one speaker is directly noticeable, and your attention is focused only on the movie.

Thursday 20th June

We have an in-store demonstration booked in on Thursday. The customer already owns the Musical Fidelity M6Si Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m6si-amplifier/) and M6SCD CD Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/musical-fidelity-m6scd-cd-player/) combination and is on the look out for a pair of new speakers. He has expressed an interest in the Klipsch Forte III (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/klipsch-forte-iii-speakers/), we will have these speakers set up alongside a few other options.

On Friday we’ve got our good friends Henley Audio paying us a visit, we’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! We have an instore demonstration booked in for Wednesday. Looking for a set of new speakers we will have the Quad Z3 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/quad-z3-speakers/) set up alongside the PMC Twenty5 23 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23-speakers/) on a Cyrus Pre2 DAC QXR (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/cyrus-pre2-dac-qxr/) and Stereo 200 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/cyrus-stereo-200-amplifier/). We will be using an Innuos Streamer as the source.

This customer also purchased an Innuos Zen MK3 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-zen-mk3-music-server/) prior to the demo and is part exchanging his old Zen MK2. While the demonstration is going on, we will transfer his music library from his old Zen MK2 to his new MK3 Zen so it’s ready to use when he gets home.

Thursday 25th July

A busy day in terms of visits from manufacturers awaits us on Thursday. First up we have Pat from the Chord Company (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/) in the morning to talk all things cable related.

In the afternoon we will have Maurice from Chord Electronics (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-electronics/) in. We can’t wait to hear more about the new Chord products especially the new Ultima range (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-electronics/?features_hash=5-49082) of power amplifiers.

Friday 26th July

A local install is on the cards for Friday. This chap has purchased the preowned ClearAudio reference turntable with a Basis Vector 2 arm we had for sale. Our turntable guy will also be fitting an Ortofon 2MRED Cartridge (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/ortofon/) to the deck to complete the install.

Saturday 27th July

Monday 29th July

We start the week off with a trip across the M62. We are heading over to Liverpool to install a pair of Monitor Audio PL300 II Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-pl300-ii-speakers/). These floorstanders offer a clean, immensely detailed sound. Capable of loads of controlled bass, with huge scale and volume capability.

Tuesday 30th July

We have an epic day Tuesday. Three installs and an early start. Firstly, we are heading down to Southampton deliver an Anthem AVM60 Processor (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/anthem-av-receivers/anthem-avm-60-av-processor/), four Cyrus Stereo 200 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/cyrus-stereo-200-amplifier/) and three Cyrus Mono X300 Signature power amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/cyrus-mono-x300-signature-amplifier/) for this customers cinema room.

After the first job is done and dusted, we are heading up to Salisbury to install a Chord Hugo TT2 DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-electronics-hugo-tt2-dac/) and Innuos Zen MK3 Streamer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-zen-mk3-music-server/). Once the new electronics are all installed, we are collecting a Chord Hugo in part exchange.

The last job of the day sees us head to south west London to install a pair of preowned Audionet Amp II mono power amplifiers.

Wednesday 31st July

Another day, another install is on the cards Wednesday. We are heading down to Lincoln to install a pair of Martin Logan Electromotion ESL X speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/martin-logan-electromotion-esl-x-speakers/). This customer popped up for a demonstration a few weeks ago, after listening to a few different speakers, opted for the Martin Logans. Once his new speakers are set up, we will also be collecting a pair of Sonus Faber Electa Amator II with matching stands.

Thursday 1st August

We have a trip to the Midlands booked in Thursday for a very exciting install. We are heading to Birmingham to install our first pair of PMC Fact 8 signature speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-8-signature-speakers/). This customer is upgrading from a pair of Twenty5 23 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty523-amarone/). An upgrade we’re sure he will love.

Friday 2nd August

We have a local install on the outskirts of Hull to install a pair of Kef R3 Standmounts (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/kef-r3-speakers/). The R3 offers exceptional insight and resolution, with a balanced and entertaining sound. As you would come to expect by KEF the R3 are excellently built and finished.

Saturday 3rd August

To finish the week off we have an instore demonstration booked in. Monday 5th August

We have an in-store demonstration booked in Monday morning. This customer is looking at purchasing an Arcam AVR550 AV Receiver (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cinema/av-amps-receivers/arcam-avr550-av-receiver/) for his home cinema set up. He is specifically interested in how the AV Receiver performs in a stereo set up, the customer is bringing in his B&W Speakers, but we will have the AVR550 set up with a Project turntable and Arcam CDS50.

Tuesday we are set to have a visit from SCV Distribution. We’ll make sure the we have a mug of the finest Yorkshire tea ready! It’s always great to see members of the industry pop in, it allows us to turn our focus to a particular brand serving as a nice refresher course and to possibly learn about any new products on the horizon.

We’ll have the AVID Sequel SP (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/avid-sequel-sp-turntable/) set up next to the SME Model 15 turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/sme-model-15-turntable/), we can’t wait to see which one comes out on top.

We end the week with a local install in Hull. Ortofon MC Anna Diamond Cartridge Event

Hey everyone, just thought we’d write a quick blog post about our installs that we’ve got lined up for today.

We’ve got three installs lined up for today, first off, we are heading to Welwyn in Hertfordshire to set up a PMC Twenty5 surround that consists of Twenty5 22 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/pmc-twenty5-22-speakers/), Twenty5 21 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/pmc-twenty5-21-speakers/) and Twenty5 Centre (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/centre-speakers/pmc-twenty5-centre-speaker/). While we are at the customers house, we will also be collecting a piar of PMC Fact 8, Cyrus CD XT Signature, Cyrus Pre-xPd Qx Preamp, Cyrus PSX-R2 power supply and two Cyrus X-Powers in part exchange.

After this install is complete, we’re heading down to the London to deliver the beastly Luxman L-509X integrated amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/luxman-l-509x-amplifier/) and also collect a number of Cyrus items in part exchange (a pre-2 dac, three psx-r2 and two x power).

Our final install of the day is in Tunbridge Wells to set up a pair of Bryston 7B3 Mono Power Amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/bryston-7b3-amplifier/). We also have some part exchange to pick up when the install is complete that comprises of two Icon Audio MB90 power amplifiers, Bryston BP25 preamp and a Bryston 8 – ST power amplifier.

Monday 14th February

We started the week off with a trip down to Hatfield, Hertfordshire to set up a preowned Chord Electronics Red Reference CD Player, on from there our installer headed to Addlestone in Surrey to deliver a Chord Electronics Coral stand to an existing customer. Our installer stayed over in a local hotel as we had a few more miles to rack up on Tuesday!

Back in the store we had a demonstration of some different amplification options for a customer. First up was the Chord Electronics DAVE ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-dave-dac/') and Etude Power Amplifier ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/chord-electronics-etude-power-amplifier/') before listening to the Musical Fidelity M6s PRE ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m6s-pre-amplifier/') and M8500s Power Amplifier ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m8-500s-power-amplifier/'). Both set of amps were hooked up to a pair of PMC Twenty5 26 speakers ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-26-speakers/').

Tuesday 15th February

After spending the night in a local hotel our installer headed down to Broadstone, Dorset to deliver and install a set of Monitor Audio PL200 II speakers ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-pl200-ii-speakers/'), once that set up was complete, he drove to Eastleigh to deliver a set of preowned PMC Twenty5 24 speakers and collect a set of KEF Reference 4 speakers that we took in part exchange.

Another demo was booked in the store, this time a speaker shootout between the Monitor Audio Silver 300 ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/monitor-audio-silver-300-7g-speakers/') and Martin Logan Motion 20i ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/martin-logan-motion-20i-speakers/'). The speakers were hooked up to an Audiolab preamplifier/DAC and PS Audio S300 Power amplifier ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/ps-audio-stellar-s300-power-amplifier/') to match the customers’ existing electronics.

Wednesday 16th February

Another day another demo, this time on Wednesday we had the Exposure 3010 mono amps set up, which was the focus of the demo. The rest of the electronics consisted off a Sugden preamplifier, Chord Electronics Qutest DAC ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-electronics-qutest-dac/') and Innuos Zen MK3 Music Server ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-zen-mk3-music-server/'). PMC Twenty5 21i Speakers ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/pmc-twenty5-21i-speakers/') and Chord Epic cable ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/?features_hash=5-5633') completed the set up.

Thursday 17th February

Thursday our installer headed north of the boarder up to Linlithgow, West Lothian to deliver and set up a pair of Monitor Audio PL200 II Speakers and collect a trade in of Monitor Audio Silver 500 speakers. The customer was also interested in home auditioning a preowned Cyrus CDXT Signature that we have, so we took that up with us too.

Friday 18th February

On the last day of the week, we headed across the Pennines to Stockport to deliver and set up a set of Dali Epicon 2 Speakers ('https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/dali-epicon-2-speakers-en/') with matching stands, we also collected some trade in too, a set of KEF LS50 Speakers and a Cyrus Lyric 09.

In the store we had a demonstration of a set of KEF R5 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-r5-speakers/) using PS Audio and Audiolab amplification.

Tuesday 22nd February

Tuesday, we headed over to Leeds to install a set of PMC Twenty5 26 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-26-speakers/) and collect a set of Dali Rubicon 6 Speakers. Once that install was complete, we set off to Altringham to deliver a Devialet Phantom set up consisting of two Phantom I 108DB (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/wireless-speakers/devialet-phantom-i-108db-wireless-speaker/) and two Phantom Tree pod stands. We also took a set of Art Expression Speakers in part exchange against the Phantoms.

We had another demonstration in the store, this time comparing the Cyrus One Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/cyrus-one-amplifier/) and new Audiolab Omnia (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/singlebox-systems/audiolab-omnia-streaming-integrated-amplifier-with-cd-drive/) All In One System, speaker wise we had the PMC Twenty5 21 set up.

Wednesday 23rd February

We had a local install in Hull on Wednesday, of a Project Xtension 9 Turntable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/turntables/project-xtension-9-turntable/), Musical Fidelity MX DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/musical-fidelity-mx-dac/), MX HPA Headphone Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/headphones/headphone-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-mx-hpa-headphone-amplifier/) and Sennheiser HD 660s Headphones (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/headphones/over-ear-headphones/sennheiser-hd660s-headphones/) plus Chord Shawline interconnects (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/?features_hash=5-5635). This was all hooked up to the customers’ existing Roksan Caspain Integrated Amplifier.

Another demonstration was taking place in the store, the focus of the demonstration was the Synthesis Taurus valve integrated amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/synthesis-a50-taurus-integrated-amplifier/). For the rest of the system, we used the Marantz SACD 30n SACD Player & Streamer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/marantz-sacd-30n-streaming-sacd-player/), Chord Qutest DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-electronics-qutest-dac/), Dali Epicon 6 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/dali-epicon-6-speakers-en/) and Chord Epic Cable (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/?features_hash=5-5633).

Thursday saw us have two in store demonstrations, in the morning we had the Roksan Attessa Streaming Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/roksan-attessa-streaming-amplifier/), which is quickly becoming a store favourite, on a set of KEF R3 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/kef-r3-speakers/).

In the afternoon we set up a few options for the customer. Again, we had the Roksan Attessa Streaming Amplifier set up alongside the Bluesound PowerNode (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/bluesound-powernode-streaming-amplifier/). Speakers wise we had the KEF LS50 Meta (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/kef-ls50-meta-speakers/).


Friday 25th February

Friday saw us back on the road again, this time heading down to London to deliver a Musical Fidelity M6Pre and M6 Power Amplifier bundle (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/special-offers/ex-demo/musical-fidelity-m6-pre-and-prx-bundle/) as well as a preowned Musical Fidelity M2 SCD CD Player (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/cd/cd-players/musical-fidelity-m2scd-cd-player/). On the way back up to Hull we also made a stop at St Neots to deliver a pair of Exposure 5010 Mono Power amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/exposure-5010-mono-power-amplifier/) with a set of Chord Clearway XLR Cables (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/audio-cables/xlr-cables/chord-clearway-xlr-interconnect/).

In the store we had a whopping PMC Speakers demonstration, the customer currently owns KEF Reference 5 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-reference-5-speakers-finish/), and wanted to see what the PMC IB2 SE speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-ib2-se-speakers/) and PMCs flagship FACT Fenestria (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-fenestria-speakers/) could do. Electronics wise we bi amped a set of Musical Fidelity M8500s Amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m8-500s-power-amplifier/), set up alongside the Chord Electronics DAVE (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-dave-dac/) acting as the preamp with a Chord M Scaler (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-m-scaler/), Innuos Zenith MK3 Streamer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-zenith-mk3-music-server/) and Innuos Phoenix Network Switch (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-phoenixnet-network-switch/). Monday 7th March
We started the week off with a demo of the AVM Inspiration CS 2.2 Compact Streaming CD Receiver. The customer was looking for a 'one box solution' in and around the £4000 mark, and the AVM fit the bill. The AVM was run alongside a set fo Martin Logan 35XTi standmount speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/martin-logan-motion-35xti-speakers/).

Tuesday 8th March
On Tuesday we had another in store demo, this time of a Bluesound Node (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/bluesound-node-streamer/). The customer was looking to integrate a streaming solution into his existing system at an affordable price, and the Bluesound Node is the 'go to' streamer in our store for anyone looking to get up and running. The rest of the system was a Musical Fidelity M6si Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/musical-fidelity-m6si-amplifier/) and PMC Twenty5 22i Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/pmc-twenty5-22i-speakers/).

Our installer was also on the road on, heading down to Reading to deliver and set up a preowned Arcam AV860 Processor. Once the Processor was set up, we had one more install in Reading before heading back up north, this time of a set of PMC IB2SE Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-ib2-se-speakers/) and a Luxman C-700u pre amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/pre-amplifiers/luxman-c-700u-pre-amplifier/) with matching M-700u power amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/luxman-m-700u-power-amplifier/).

On the way down to Ready, we also stopped off in Derby to drop off a Chord Electronics Mojo2 Headphone DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/headphones/headphone-amplifiers/chord-mojo-2-headphone-dac/) and Poly Streamer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/chord-poly-streamer/) bundle.

Wednesday 9th March
Another in store demo was booked in for Wednesday. This customer wanted to listen to the difference between the Innuos Zen Mini MK3 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-zen-mini-mk3-music-server/) and Innuos Zen (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-zen-mk3-music-server/). We had both units set up side by side alongside the Chord Qutest DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-electronics-qutest-dac/), Exposure 2510 Integrated Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/exposure-2510-amplifier/) and Klipsch RP-600M Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/klipsch-rp-600m-speakers/).

Friday 11th March
For the last day of the week we had a couple of local installs, first up is a delivery and install of a set of KEF R5 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/kef-r5-speakers/) and collection of a set of B&W 603s2 speakers we have taken in part exchange.
Lastly we are dropping of the AVM Inspiration CS 2.2 for the customer who demo'd it on Monday, so they can listen to it in his system.

Monday 14th March
We started the week off with a trip down to Kings Lynn to install a pair of Quad Z3 Floorstanding speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/quad-z3-speakers/) and collect a set of KEF R7 Speakers we have taken in part exchange.
Once the first delivery and install were complete, we headed down to Leasingham (a village in Lincolnshire) do deliver a pair of PS Audio Stellar M700 mono block amplifiers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/ps-audio-stellar-m700-mono-power-amplifiers/), which we are sure the customer will love, since he traded in his PS Audio S300 stereo power amp against them.

Tuesday 15th March
Tuesday saw us head north of the boarder up to Selkirk to deliver and install a set of PMC Twenty5 23i speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23i-speakers/). Once the new speakers were installed, we collected a set of PMC Twenty523 and Neat Motive SX1 Speakers in part exchange.

The customer was also kind enough to treat Steve our installer to a local delicacy, the Selkirk Bannock!

Wednesday 16th March
We headed over to West Yorkshire on Wednesday for a couple of deliveries. First up to Morley, Leeds to deliver an Exposure 3510 amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/exposure-3510-amplifier/) and Chord Qutest DAC (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-electronics-qutest-dac/). We also collected a Denon AVR-2803 AV Receiver in part exchange.

We had another job in Leeds before we headed back to Hull, this time to install a set of Klipsch Cornwall (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/klipsch-cornwall-iv-speakers/) speakers for a repeat customer. This is the second set of Cornwall’s we have installed for them. The customer now has a Klipsch surround speaker package with Arcam AVR30 Receiver and REL Predator Subs.

Which makes for an impressive surround system.

On the way back to Hull we delivered a Bryston B135 Integrated amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/bryston-b135-3-amplifier/) to a customer for a home audition too.

Friday 18th March
The end the week we had an in-store demonstration. The customer was looking for separates system based around vinyl. Tuesday 22nd March
After a quieter Monday, with no deliveries or demonstrations booked in, we were back to it Tuesday. This time with two vans on the road!
First up for one van was a local install of an Audiolab Omnia (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/singlebox-systems/audiolab-omnia-streaming-integrated-amplifier-with-cd-drive/) to install. After that was completed, we headed down to Nottingham for two installs.

Firstly, was a delivery and install of a set of PMC Twenty5 23i speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-twenty5-23i-speakers/), once that install was complete we had another delivery in Nottingham, this time for a set of preowned Bowers & Wilkins 603 S2 speakers.

The second van headed down to Welwyn, Hertfordshire to deliver a set of Dali Epicon 2 speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/dali-epicon-2-speakers-en/) with matching stands along with some Chord Epic (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/?features_hash=5-5633) XLR and RCA interconnects. We also collected a set of B&W 606 and matching stands

Wednesday 23rd March
Wednesday saw us head down to Norwich for a beefy looking install. This customer had purchased a Synthesis Roma 753 AC Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/integrated-amplifiers/synthesis-roma-753-ac-integrated-amplifier/), Lehmann Black Cube SE II Phono Stage (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/turntables-and-accessories/phono-stages/lehmann-black-cube-ii-phono-stage/), Chord Epic Speaker cable and interconnect as well as an Ortofon Quintet Black Cartridge (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/brands/ortofon/ortofon-quintet-black-cartridge/) that we fitted to the customers’ existing turntable.

In the store we also had a demonstration of a set of preowned Focal Clear headphones.

Thursday 24th March
We took to the road again on Thursday, this time down to Tilehurst, Berkshire to deliver a preowned Audio Research Dsi200 Integrated Amplifier for a customer.

Friday 25th March
To end the week, we had an instore demonstration booked in. This customer was looking to hear the difference between a Chord Hugo TT vs a Hugo TT2 (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-electronics-hugo-tt2-dac/), as well as what the Chord M Scaler (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/dacs/chord-m-scaler/) could do alongside the Hugo TT2. On top of this, the customer had also expressed an interest in a preowned CPA 5000 Preamplifier that we had part exchange, which we were more than happy to set up too. The rest of the system comprised of PMC Fact 12 Speakers (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/pmc-fact-12-speakers/), Chord Ultima 5 Power Amplifier (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/amplifiers/power-amplifiers/chord-ultima-5-power-amplifier/), Innuos PhoenixNET switch (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-phoenixnet-network-switch/) and Innuos Zenith MK3 Streamer (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/streamers/innuos-zenith-mk3-music-server/).

Cable wise, we used Chord Company Signature (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/chord-cables/?features_hash=5-49113-5636) throughout. Plus, their new PowerHAUS M6 mains block (https://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/cables/mains-power-products/mains-conditioning-blocks/chord-powerhaus-m6-mains-block/).
