Hi All,

I'm from Uckfield, East Sussex.

I currently have a simple system, Optonica SM4100 Amp and an older Cambridge Audio CD player, running through a set of KEF iq 9's in one room and iq5's in another. I think it sounds pretty good for a fairly low outlay. I do have a SME tonearm I inherited and a head full of ideas for a home-brewed turntable, as I have a stack of vinyl tucked away unplayed for years.

Musically it would be quicker to list what I don't like (opera, brass bands), if you pushed me for a favourite genre I'd say 70's Rock/psych/funk.

So that's me, looking forward to poking around and asking daft questions.

Cheers

Dominick.

BTW, Dave, I'm not stalking you mate, pure fluke I found this forum two days after you signed up......

Hi Dominick. Welcome to the forum.

Are you really going to build your own turntable? Look forward to that.

Welcome to AoS Dominick.

Yes, that home brew turntable sounds fascinating. Let us know how it progresses.

Hello Dominick. Welcome to AOS.

Your Optonica amp is probably pretty good. Optonica were the prestige sub-division of Sharp and turned out some interesting and decent gear.

A home made turntable sounds like a relatively simple idea, but can be tricky to get right. I'll be interested to see what you come up with. If you need help or info, we have some very knowledgeable folk here who can give opinions.

Feel free to get involved and chat with everybody.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.
